Wondering what should I expect. Will it be similar to Z68?

My cousin is building a PC pretty soon. He will be doing video editing on it so I feel he will benefit from HyperThreading.

Considering Ivy Bridge is just around the corner and pricing is similar, obviously we would be better off waiting. This also gives him time to save up more monies.

I did find a BNIB 2600K for $250 locally on Craigslist, but when I mentioned how Ivy Bridge will be slightly better, his response "No I want the new shit!".

    So what you guys think, $250 2600K + GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, or 3770K + Z77 board?

    GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI S...

I'd rather save him ~$100 and put that into a good GPU...

3770K + Z77, IMHO. Not sure on board pricing yet.

I have that board and love it, my 2500k will do 5.0ghz, leave it at 4.9 for games!

the 3770k looks interesting, I personally may hold back on 22nm until it is run through the cycles a bit. but if he doesnt want sb, then IB is the only way to go.
