What you mean? like on the back of the video card ?

Yes. I remember having to switch to DP from HDMI on my kiddos because he could not push it to 60 hz.

EDIT:

You should have a DP output on that 1080ti but not certain on that monitor. But if it is 4K capable, it should have it.

There's only 1 hdmi port on back of the 1080ti card. Do you think my hdmi cable is outdated? only when I run on 4k highest resolution and 60hz it flashes black

You should have a few display-port connection on your card similar to this:

You should try it and I am not sure if your HDMI cable is bad since you said it works albeit not to do setting that you want.

got new drivers, do i need to buy new 4k hdmi cables?
There's no such thing as a "4K HDMI cable". Just get a decent quality high speed one. It shouldn't cost more than a few dollars / pounds. Don't get suckered in to paying $50 for an expensive cable. They all work the same - no better picture quality with an expensive one since the signal is digital.

I would buy just the display port cable. No adapters. What is your monitor you are trying to drive?

Your monitor should have a display port input (since it is 4K) so all you need is a cable.

For 4k w/ 60 Hz you need DP 1.2–1.2a ... 120 hz requires 1.3 and 144 Hz requires 1.4.

For 4k @ 60Hz you need HDMI 2.0–2.0b ... to get p to 144 hz you need HDMI 2.1

A review I looked at says your monitor support "4K via Displayport 1.2 or HDMI 2.0 "

So... that should gets you 60 Hz w/ either HDMI 2.0 or DP 1.2

Tho not sure why the match of a G-Sync card and a Freesync Monitor ?

Yeah right now I have it plugged into hdmi 2.0 and gives me the option to do 60hz but its flashing black every other second.. so I'm buying the display port cable now and will try tomorrow

There could be several reasons for this:

1 Dodgy HDMI cable, or a slow speed one (not many of those around). Try another cable
2 Faulty monitor. These may work at non-native resolutions only, or at lower refresh rates due to faulty hardware
3 Driver and/or Windows issue
4 Card/monitor combination don't work well together. Shouldn't happen, but sometimes things go a bit out of tolerance and this happens. Try another card if possible if the other things haven't worked

btw, the cheap cable advice I gave about HDMI also applies to DisplayPort, or any "digital" cable for that matter.
