The FirePro S10000 was a enthusiast-class professional graphics card by AMD, launched in November 2012. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Tahiti graphics processor, in its Zaphod variant, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The Tahiti graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 352 mm² and 4,313 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon HD 7970, which uses the same GPU but has all 2048 shaders enabled, AMD has disabled some shading units on the FirePro S10000 to reach the product's target shader count. FirePro S10000 combines two graphics processors to increase performance. It features 1792 shading units, 112 texture mapping units and 32 ROPs per GPU. AMD has placed 6,144 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface per GPU (each GPU manages 3,072 MB). The GPU is operating at a frequency of 825 MHz, which can be boosted up to 950 MHz, memory is running at 1250 MHz.
Being a dual-slot card, the AMD FirePro S10000 draws power from 2x 8-pin power connectors, with power draw rated at 375 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 4x DisplayPort. FirePro S10000 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface. The card measures 305 mm in length, and features a dual-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 3599 US Dollars.
