The FirePro V7800 was a enthusiast-class professional graphics card by ATI, launched in April 2010. Built on the 40 nm process, and based on the Cypress graphics processor, in its Cypress PRO GL variant, the card supports DirectX 11.2. The Cypress graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 334 mm² and 2,154 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon HD 5870 Mac Edition, which uses the same GPU but has all 1600 shaders enabled, ATI has disabled some shading units on the FirePro V7800 to reach the product's target shader count. It features 1440 shading units, 72 texture mapping units and 32 ROPs. ATI has placed 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 700 MHz, memory is running at 1000 MHz.
Being a single-slot card, the ATI FirePro V7800 draws power from 1x 6-pin power connectors, with power draw rated at 150 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 2x DisplayPort. FirePro V7800 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface. The card measures 254 mm in length, and features a single-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 759 US Dollars.
