The FirePro W5170M was a professional graphics card by AMD, launched in August 2014. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Tropo graphics processor, in its Tropo XT variant, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The Tropo graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 123 mm² and 1,500 million transistors. It features 640 shading units, 40 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. AMD has placed 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 900 MHz, which can be boosted up to 925 MHz, memory is running at 1125 MHz.
Being a mxm module card, the AMD FirePro W5170M does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is not exactly known. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it.
