The GeForce 9600 GT was a mid-range graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in February 2008. Built on the 65 nm process, and based on the G94 graphics processor, in its G94-300-A1 variant, the card supports DirectX 11.1. Even though it supports DirectX 11, the feature level is only 10_0, which can be problematic with many DirectX 11 & DirectX 12 titles. The G94 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 240 mm² and 505 million transistors. It features 64 shading units, 32 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. NVIDIA has paired 512 MB GDDR3 memory with the GeForce 9600 GT, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 650 MHz, memory is running at 900 MHz.
Being a single-slot card, the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT draws power from 1x 6-pin power connector, with power draw rated at 95 W maximum. Display outputs include: 2x DVI, 1x S-Video. GeForce 9600 GT is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface. The card measures 229 mm in length, and features a single-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 179 US Dollars.
