The Radeon 540 is an entry-level graphics card by AMD, launched in March 2019. Built on the 14 nm process, and based on the Lexa graphics processor, in its Lexa PRO variant, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The Lexa graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 103 mm² and 2,200 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon 550X 640SP, which uses the same GPU but has all 640 shaders enabled, AMD has disabled some shading units on the Radeon 540 to reach the product's target shader count. It features 512 shading units, 32 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. AMD has placed 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 64-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 1100 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1124 MHz, memory is running at 1750 MHz.
Being a dual-slot card, the AMD Radeon 540 does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 50 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort. Radeon 540 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 interface. The card measures 145 mm in length, and features a dual-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 79 US Dollars.
