The Radeon HD 5550 was a graphics card by ATI, launched in February 2010. Built on the 40 nm process, and based on the Redwood graphics processor, in its Redwood PRO2 variant, the card supports DirectX 11.2. The Redwood graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 104 mm² and 627 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon HD 5730, which uses the same GPU but has all 400 shaders enabled, ATI has disabled some shading units on the Radeon HD 5550 to reach the product's target shader count. It features 320 shading units, 16 texture mapping units and 8 ROPs. ATI has placed 512 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 550 MHz, memory is running at 800 MHz.
Being a single-slot card, the ATI Radeon HD 5550 does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 39 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA. Radeon HD 5550 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface. The card measures 165 mm in length, and features a single-slot cooling solution.
