The Radeon HD 7970M was a graphics card by AMD, launched in April 2012. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Wimbledon graphics processor, in its Wimbledon XT variant, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The Wimbledon graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 212 mm² and 2,800 million transistors. It features 1280 shading units, 80 texture mapping units and 32 ROPs. AMD has placed 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 850 MHz, memory is running at 1200 MHz.
Being a mxm module card, the AMD Radeon HD 7970M does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 100 W maximum. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it.
