The Quadro FX 5500 SDI was a high-end professional graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in April 2006. Built on the 90 nm process, and based on the G71 graphics processor, the card supports DirectX 9.0c. The G71 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 196 mm² and 278 million transistors. It features 24 pixel shaders and 8 vertex shaders, 24 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). NVIDIA has placed 1,024 MB GDDR3 memory on the card, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 650 MHz, memory is running at 505 MHz.
We recommend the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5500 SDI for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 1280x720.
Being a triple-slot card, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5500 SDI draws power from 1x 6-pin power connectors, with power draw rated at 104 W maximum. Display outputs include: 3x DVI, 1x S-Video. Quadro FX 5500 SDI is connected to the rest of the system using a PCIe 1.0 x16 interface. The card measures 229 mm in length, and features a triple-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 6,999 US Dollars.
