NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS
The GeForce 8600 GS was a graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in April 2007. Built on the 80 nm process, and based on the G84 graphics processor, the card supports DirectX 10.0. The G84 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 169 mm² and 289 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce 8600 GT Mac Edition, which uses the same GPU but has all 32 shaders enabled, NVIDIA has disabled some shading units on the GeForce 8600 GS to reach the product's target shader count. It features 16 shading units, 8 texture mapping units and 8 ROPs. NVIDIA has placed 512 MB DDR2 memory on the card, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 540 MHz, memory is running at 400 MHz.
We recommend the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 800x600.
Being a single-slot card, the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 47 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x VGA, 1x S-Video. GeForce 8600 GS is connected to the rest of the system using a PCIe 1.0 x16 interface.
