EVGA Starts Selling in Taiwan

EVGA entered the Taiwanese market, which is the backyard of several major NVIDIA and AMD board partners, including ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI. The American company launched almost its entire GeForce 600 series lineup, including GT 610, GT 620, GT 630, GT 640, GTX 650 Ti, GTX 660 Ti, GTX 670, and GTX 680. Missing in action are the flagship GTX 690, and non-reference design "Classified" series of graphics cards, in which EVGA puts in a lot of design, cooling, and PCB customization. EVGA's products are launched at leading ground and online stores, at competitive prices. They are backed by 5-year product warranties.

MSI Partners up with Futuremark for the new version of 3DMark Cross-Platform

Leading mainboard and graphics card maker MSI and the world's best system benchmarking software developer Futuremark have partnered up to jointly announce the newest version of the 3D benchmarking program 3DMark. The new version of this 3D benchmarking utility supports Windows, Windows RT, Android and iOS platforms, and has an all new user interface that will provide enthusiasts with a rich and novel user experience.

The 3DMark series has long been acclaimed among gamers for its original visual design and wide range of special effects. 3DMark 11 in particular has been the No.1 choice for testing graphics card performance since it was released in 2010, and remains the benchmarking utility of choice for enthusiasts today. Due to the previous successful cooperation on 3DMark 11, MSI has partnered with Futuremark again to release the next generation of the world renowned 3DMark benchmarking utility.

MSI Readies Celeron 847-based C847MS-E33 Micro-ATX Motherboard

MSI is working on a new micro-ATX motherboard with Celeron 847 BGA processor hard-wired onto it, the C847MS-E33. The Celero 847 is a dual-core processor based on the 32 nm "Sandy Bridge" architecture, clocked at 1.10 GHz, featuring 2 MB of L2 cache, and a dual-channel DDR3 IMC. Its 17-Watt TDP is low enough for MSI to use a passive heatsink to cool it with. Aiding the CPU is an Intel NM70 chipset, which provides one each of SATA 6 Gb/s and SATA 3 Gb/s ports.

The C847MS-E33 features two DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 16 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1333 MHz memory. Its processor is wired to a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, two legacy PCI and a PCIe 2.0 x1 make for the rest of its expansion. Connectivity includes 6-channel HD audio with optical and coaxial SPDIF outputs, gigabit Ethernet, a number of USB 2.0/1.1 ports on the rear panel and by headers, and display outputs that include HDMI and D-Sub. We expect the board to be priced around $70-80, providing a decent entry-level PC solution.

MSI Unveils B75MA-G43 Motherboard

MSI expanded its entry-level socket LGA1155 motherboard lineup with the B75MA-G43, featuring Intel Small Business Advantage. The micro-ATX board is positioned to be a notch below the B75MA-G45. It features a simpler 5-phase CPU VRM. The CPU socket, which supports 32 nm "Sandy Bridge" and 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" processors, is wired to four DIMM slots, supporting up to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory, and a PCI-Express 3.0 x16. Other expansion slots include a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4, wired to PCH), and two legacy PCI.

Storage connectivity on the B75MA-G43 includes one SATA 6 Gb/s, and five SATA 3 Gb/s ports. The chipset gives out four USB 3.0 ports, two of which are given out by a standard header, and two at the rear panel. Display connectivity includes DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. 8-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, PS/2 combo, LPT and COM (by headers), and a number of USB 2.0/1.1 ports make for the rest of it. The B75MA-G43 is expected to be priced under $60.

MSI Intros Low-Profile GeForce GT 640 Graphics Card with Three Display Outputs

MSI announced a new low-profile, single slot graphics card based on the GeForce GT 640 (model: N640GT-MD2GD3/LP). The card gives users the advantage of support for 3-display 3DVision Surround, for productivity. It packs 2 GB of DDR3 memory across a 128-bit wide interface, to aid with smooth display on those three monitors. It ships with 900 MHz core, and 1792 MHz memory (DDR). Display outputs include one each of dual-link DVI, HDMI, and D-Sub. Based on the 28 nm GK107 silicon, the GeForce GT 640 packs 384 CUDA cores. The new card is expected to be priced around US $90.

MSI C847IS-P33 Celeron-Powered Mini-ITX Motherboard Detailed

MSI unveiled a new all-integrated mini-ITX motherboard that steps above the Intel Atom and AMD E-Series crowd, being based on Intel Celeron 847 dual-core processor (1.10 GHz, 32 nm "Westmere" micro-architecture, 2 MB L3 cache, SSE4.2, EM64T). MSI used a small fan-heatsink to cool the chip, which has 17W TDP. The processor is backed by Intel NM70 chipset. It is based on the compact 1023-pin BGA package, and is hardwired to the motherboard. One of the features that give the processor its edge over Atom and E-Series is its dual-channel DDR3 integrated memory controller with maximum memory support of up to 16 GB. The chip is wired to two DDR3 DIMM slots.

The only expansion slot is a PCI-Express 2.0 x1. Storage connectivity includes one each of SATA 6 Gb/s and SATA 3 Gb/s. Display outputs include DVI and D-Sub. A missed opportunity here is the lack of HDMI. 6-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, legacy PS/2, and a number of USB 2.0/1.1 connectors make for the rest of it. Surprisingly, MSI designed the board with modern UEFI BIOS, which lets you take advantage of Windows 8 Secure Boot feature. There is no word on availability and pricing of the C847IS-P33.

MSI Hetris H61 Series SFF Desktops Launched

MSI Hetris H61 Ultra Barebones Desktop Pictured

MSI designed the new Hetris H61 Ultra, a 10 liter commercial barebones desktop for the European market. Measuring 330 x 94 x 320 mm, its chassis houses an Intel H61 chipset-based socket LGA1155 motherboard, which supports Core/Pentium/Celeron processors based on the 32 nm "Sandy Bridge" and 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" micro-architectures. It features two 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 8 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1333 MHz memory. Among the drive bays in the chassis are a 3.5-inch/2.5-inch SATA bay for hard drives, and a 5.25-inch bay for optical drives.

The Hetris H61 Ultra packs an 80 Plus-compliant 270W power supply. It features a PCI-Express riser that allows you to install up to two PCIe expansion cards along the plane of the motherboard. Connectivity includes 6-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports on the front, four USB 2.0/1.1 ports on the rear, a pair of serial COM ports, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, eSATA 3 Gb/s, and display connectivity that includes DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. The Hetris H61 Ultra could also be sold with a number of entry-level CPU, memory, and HDD combinations.

MSI GeForce GTX 660 HAWK Graphics Card Launched

MSI launched the GeForce GTX 660 HAWK, which was first pictured in mid-September. The card makes use of a custom-design PCB with 10-phase VRM, and features factory-overclocked speeds of 1085 MHz core, 1150 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory (GDDR5-effective). It packs 2 GB of memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface. Another major component is its Twin Frozr IV cooler, which uses a dense aluminum fin stack to which head directly draw from the GPU is fed by a number of nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The card uses an external GPU Reactor module that conditions power for the GPU, stabilizing OC. It is expected to be priced around US $250.

MSI GeForce GTX 650 Ti HAWK Pictured

MSI is working on a premium factory-overclocked graphics card based on the GeForce GTX 650 Ti, giving it the coveted HAWK brand extension attached with top performance-segment graphics cards from its lineup. The card uses the same exact PCB as the one used in MSI's GTX 650 Ti Power Edition; the Cyclone II cooler is swapped for the beefier Twin Frozr IV, and clock speeds increased beyond those of the Power Edition OC (although not disclosed). Pricing and availability information is not available, but we expect the card to be launched a little later this month.

MSI Announces New Radeon HD 7750 with 2 GB DDR3 Memory

For those who prefer more (albeit slower) video memory, MSI announced a new Radeon HD 7750 graphics card featuring 2 GB of DDR3 memory, compared to the 1 GB GDDR5 standard. The new card, bearing model number R7750-PMD2GD3, features custom design PCB and cooling solution. The PCB is 16.8 cm long, and relies on the PCI-Express slot for power. The cooler, on the other hand, consists of a full-length shroud, covering a round fan-heatsink with spirally-projecting aluminum fins, ventilated by a 70 mm MSI Propeller Blade fan.

The GPU is clocked at 800 MHz, with the memory running at 1.60 GHz (DDR3-effective). The 2 GB of memory is spread across a 128-bit wide interface. Display outputs include one each of dual-link DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. Based on the 28 nm "Cape Verde" silicon, the Radeon HD 7750 packs 512 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, 48 TMUs, 16 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide memory interface. It features PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface, and supports the latest graphics APIs, including DirectX 11.1. MSI did not reveal pricing.

AMD A10-5800K Cracks 7.446 GHz

Beating their own OC record of 7.384 GHz set earlier this week, overclocker alvinkenzo took the $122 AMD A10-5800K APU all the way up to 7446.41 MHz, achieved with a base clock frequency of 120.1 MHz and 62.0x multiplier. The core voltage was set at 1.992V, and one of the two modules were disabled, a discrete graphics card was used. Memory speed wasn't tinkered with, at DDR3-1600 MHz, a pair of G.Skill-made modules were used in dual-channel configuration. Seating it all was MSI FM2-A85XA-G65 motherboard.
