BenQ will soon be rolling out a new business-oriented widescreen monitor, a model called BL2700HT that makes use of an AMVA+ panel. The upcoming display features a flicker-free backlight, a Low Blue Light mode (reduces blue light exposure) and has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 178/178 degree viewing angles, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 4 ms (GtG) response time.

The BL2700HT also has slim bezels to and offers dual 1 W speakers, D-Sub, DVI and HDMI 1.4 connectivity, plus a stand enabling swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustment. No word yet on pricing.

Acer will soon be throwing its hat into the 4K ring by rolling out a 28-inch monitor with a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Acer's upcoming UHD display is called CB280HK and features a TN panel, an LED backlight, a 2 ms response time, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a stand allowing tilt, pivot, swivel and height adjustment, and DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and mini DisplayPort connectivity.

The Acer CB280HK can be found listed on pre-order with a price tag of 499 Euro.

Iiyama introduced four new 17-inch monitors with the 5:4 aspect ratio, featuring native resolutions of 1280 x 1024. The company is going after the kiosk markets with these displays. Among the models launched are the ProLite T1731SR-2 (and its white variant), the ProLite T1731SAW-2, and the ProLite T1732MSC-B1X (pictured in that order). The ProLite T1731SR-2 offers single-point resistive touch, the ProLite T1731SAW-2 also offers single-touch, but using the ultrasonic method, so your fingers needn't physically push against the panel (good hygiene), and the ProLite T1732MSC-B1X offers 10-point capacitive multi-touch. All four feature 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, 80°/85° (V/H) viewing angles, DVI and D-Sub inputs, 2W stereo speakers, and dimensions of 387 mm x 201 mm x 342 mm (WxDxH).

I-O Data today announced its first UHD (3840 x 2160) display, a 28-inch model called LCD-M4K281XB. This upcoming, 'flicker-free' monitor features a TFT panel, an LED backlight, a blue light reduction function, and has a 5 ms response time (2.5 ms via overdrive), a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and D-Sub, dual HDMI and dual DisplayPort connectors.

The LCD-M4K281XB also packs two 2.5 W speakers and comes with a three-year warranty. I-O Data didn't mention pricing but said that the monitor will become available at the end of July.

Philips announces two new PowerSensor displays that use intuitive human sensor technology to detect user presence and automatically reduce monitor brightness when users step away, reducing energy consumption by up to 80 percent while prolonging the life of the monitor. The eco-friendly 24- and 27-inch displays utilize the LCD backlight for better dimming control and offer superior color reproduction.

The EPEAT GOLD certified monitors are not only highly energy efficient, but also feature PVC-BFR free housing. The displays come in 24-inch (model 241B4LPYCB) and 27-inch (model 271S4LPYEB) screen sizes and are available now through distributors for $249.99 MSRP and $349.99 MSRP, respectively.

Worldwide PC monitor shipments totaled nearly 33.7 million units in the first quarter of 2014 (1Q14), a year-over-year decline of -0.4%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker. IDC expects worldwide shipments to continue on their current trajectory, slipping to 106 million units for the full year 2018.

"Despite the overall decline, the shipment totals were stronger than the forecast of 31 million units," said Phuong Hang, Program Director, Worldwide Trackers at IDC. "Geographically, Japan and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions delivered the largest gains during the first quarter while Dell and HP both experienced solid shipment growth."

AOC today announced the g2770Pqu, a gaming-focused 27-inch widescreen display that is capable of a 144 Hz refresh rate at its (rather low) native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The monitor uses a TN panel and features a 1 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, D-Sub, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, and a stand enabling pivot, swivel, and height adjustment.

The AOC g2770Pqu is backed by a three-year warranty and is expected to become available at the end of this month priced at 419 Euro.

EIZO Corporation today announced the FORIS FS2434, a 23.8-inch gaming monitor with a slim 6 mm frame. The FORIS FS2434 also offers vivid display of color and EIZO-developed "Smart" technologies for more enjoyable gaming. The monitor is ideal for RTS, MOBA, and MMORPG genres of PC gaming as well as console game genres of all types.

NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today the MultiSync EA304WMi, a 30-inch monitor addition to its premium business desktop portfolio. The widescreen model features IPS panel technology with wide viewing angles (178° horizontal/vertical), touch-sensitive menu controls and ergonomic adjustability. Announced back in April, Philips' 288P6LJEB 28-inch Ultra HD monitor is now available in most North American and European markets. It's priced around US $750 (incl. taxes). Based around a TFT-LCD panel with LED backlit illumination that doesn't rely on PWM for adjusting brightness (doesn't flicker), the monitor offers its native resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), with 60 Hz refresh rate, a stunning 1 ms response time, 160°/170° viewing angles (vertical/horizontal), 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, and dynamic mega contrast. Among its display inputs are dual-link DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI, and MHL.

This summer AOC is set to bring to market the u3477Pqu, a 34-inch monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. The upcoming ultra-wide display has a slim bezel design, makes use of an AH-IPS panel and features a 5 ms (GTG) response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 320 cd/m2 brightness, a four-port (dual 2.0 and dual 3.0) USB hub, built-in 3 W stereo speakers, and D-Sub, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs.

The AOC u3477Pqu is said to come out in July. No word on pricing though.

This new 32-inch monitor offers 10-bit color and 100% sRGB coverage and features 178/178-degree viewing angles, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 100,000,000:1 'Smart Contrast', a four-port USB 3.0 hub, tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment, and an array of inputs which includes HDMI 1.4 (UHD @ 30 Hz), HDMI 2.0 (UHD @ 60 Hz), mini DisplayPort, and DisplayPort 1.2.

The ProArt PA328Q is set to arrive in Q4. No price tag was announced.

HP has this week announced the upcoming arrival of the EliteDisplay E231e and E241e ergonomic monitors. These 23-inch and 24-inch displays can be rotated and also allow for both height and angle adjustment to better fit the user's needs.

Spec wise, the EliteDisplay feature a Full HD IPS panel, an 8 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, and D-Sub, DVI and DisplayPort inputs, plus a two-port USB 2.0 hub. The EliteDisplay E231e and E241e are backed by a three-year warranty and will cost 265 Euro and 312 Euro, respectively. The E231e is expected to arrive next month while the E241e is set to ship in July.
