TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.44.0 Released

TechPowerUp today released the latest version of TechPowerUp GPU-Z, the handy graphics sub-system information and diagnostic utility for gamers and PC enthusiasts. Version 2.44.0 adds support for several new GPUs, feature updates to the Resizable BAR detection, and a handful other fixes. To begin with, GPU-Z adds support for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050, RTX 3080 12 GB, RTX 3070 Ti Mobile, RTX 3050 Ti Mobile, RTX 2060 12 GB, MX550, and a number of other mobile GPUs from NVIDIA. On the AMD front, you get support for Navi 24: Radeon RX 6500 XT, RX 6400, RX 6300M, RX 6500M, PRO W6300M, PRO W6500M, and PRO W660M. Support is also added for Intel "Alder Lake" non-K processors, "Alder Lake" mobile processors, and Xeon processors based on "Rocket Lake."

TechPowerUp GPU-Z can now report the exact base-address register (BAR) size when Resizable BAR is enabled. Find it in the Advanced Panel, under Resizable BAR. Detection of Resizable BAR has been improved. Detection of LHR in certain RTX 3060 cards has been improved to weed out misreporting of LHR. Vendor detection was added for Vastarmor. The internal Screenshot hosting utility now uploads screenshots over HTTPS. The 64-bit Windows Vista name will now include a space character, so "Vista 64" instead of just "Vista64." Microsoft Takes a Leaf out of Acer's Book with the Surface Laptop Studio

The new Surface Laptop Studio features what Microsoft calls a boundary-pushing design, yet we felt like we'd seen the easel before. Lo and behold, Acer ConceptD 3 Ezel launched last year with a very similar design and HP launched the similar Spectre Folio in 2018. Not to belittle Microsoft here, as they have designed a much slicker hinge mechanism than Acer, while seemingly also improving upon the materials used and unlike HP's Spectre Folio, this is a "full fat" laptop and not a glorified tablet.

The Surface Laptop Studio is a strange looking machine, as it has an overhang, something I never expected to see on a laptop and although it appears to have been designed to allow for better cooling, there's just something about it that irks me. Yes, it makes it appear thinner than it really is and Microsoft uses the overhang to tuck away and charge the optional Surface Slim Pen 2 underneath, but it just looks odd for a lack of a better word. Oddities aside, it should be Microsoft's most powerful Intel powered laptop to date and it even packs a discrete NVIDIA GPU.

XMG Announces APEX Laptop Family with up to Ryzen 9 5900HX and GeForce RTX 3070 Processors

With the 15.6 and 17.3 inch XMG APEX gaming laptops, XMG is positioning a new model series below its own high-end range consisting of the NEO and PRO series. These new laptops combine mobile AMD eight-core processors up to the Ryzen 9 5900HX with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards up to the RTX 3070. The company is simultaneously introducing the XMG FOCUS, a new product series in the entry-level segment. Intel's Core i7-11800H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti offer decent gaming performance, while good connectivity and memory round off the overall package. All four new models feature an IPS display with 144 Hz.

Until now, the XMG APEX 15 in the older E20 generation represented uncompromising desktop CPU performance, with processors up to the Ryzen 9 3950X in a laptop. Although XMG is already working on a direct successor under a slightly different name, it is unleashing the XMG APEX 15 and APEX 17 of the M21 generation for the time being with the currently fastest eight-core mobile processors from AMD. The laptops are available with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H as well as with the slightly faster Ryzen 9 5900HX from the 54 watt TDP class, as well as with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or RTX 3060 in the respective maximum TGP configuration (RTX 3070: 125 watts plus 15 watts Dynamic Boost 2.0; RTX 3060: 115 watts plus 15 watts Dynamic Boost 2.0).

AMD Radeon RX 6600M Tested, Compared with GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

An HP Omen 16 gaming notebook powered by AMD Radeon RX 6600M graphics, was compared with those based on the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU, and the RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU. The RX 6600M was found to post significantly better performance/Watt (total graphics power/TGP) than the RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU, and go on to perform in the same league as the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. The RX 6600M trades blows with the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU across a wide variety of games at 1080p, although the NVIDIA chip has an upper hand with 1440p. The RTX 3060 Laptop GPU also owns raytracing performance. The crypto-currency mining hash-rate of the RX 6600M is significantly lower than the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. These numbers show that for for mainstream gaming notebooks with 1080p 60 Hz displays, the RX 6600M provides a formidable alternative to the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU.

Acer Announces the Swift X Featuring NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs

Acer today introduced the Swift X, the newest member of its popular Swift line of notebooks. Designed to take ultra-portable PC design to the next level, this ultrathin-and-light laptop boasts an AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processor with "Zen 3" architecture and the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPUs.

"Acer's new notebook models are designed to offer consumers the widest possible choice of high-performance, ultraportable computing devices," said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. "Professionals need a clean-looking notebook that is compact enough to take with them throughout the day, but it also has to be powerful enough to run multiple resource-intensive programs at once. With every device we make, we're always pursuing that balance."

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti Possible Release Dates Surface

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics card family is on course to a refresh, with at least four new Ti SKUs reportedly planned. These include the RTX 3050 TI, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3080 Ti, and the RTX 3090 Ti. From these, possible availability dates of the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti surfaced in a Wccftech report. The RTX 3080 Ti is expected to be available on June 3, 2021, with reviews going live on June 2. The RTX 3070 Ti, on the other hand, is expected to be available a week later, on June 10, with reviews going live on June 9. There's no word on availability of the other rumored Ti SKUs, such as the RTX 3050 Ti (desktop) or the RTX 3090 Ti. The RTX 3070 Ti is being designed to better compete against the Radeon RX 6800 under the $600-mark, while the RTX 3080 Ti is designed to check the Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Palit Regulatory Filing Suggests NVIDIA Planning Joint Announcement of Three "Ti" SKUs

A regulatory filing by Palit with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) for several of its upcoming custom-design graphics cards, points to the possibility that NVIDIA is preparing to announcing three GeForce RTX 30-series Ti desktop graphics card SKUs in one go. These include the much talked about GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the RTX 3070 Ti, and the RTX 3050 Ti.

From these, the RTX 3080 Ti is positioned between the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, possibly helping NVIDIA better compete against the Radeon RX 6900 XT. The RTX 3070 Ti improves the company's competitiveness against the RX 6800. The new RTX 3050 Ti could carve out a performance class for itself, and as yet AMD lacks any desktop SKUs below the RX 6700 XT from the current generation, at least in the retail channel. The three cards could be launched in Q2-2021.

Acer Announces Predator Triton 300, Predator Helios 300 and Nitro 5 Gaming Notebooks

Acer today announced updates to its popular Predator Triton 300, Predator Helios 300 and Nitro 5 series of gaming notebooks, all of which have been refreshed to take advantage of the latest 11th Gen Intel Core H-series processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs - including the new GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. On top of a number of other updates, improvements to the devices' displays ensure that players will appreciate as much of this power boost as possible.

NVIDIA Announces GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile and RTX 3050 Mobile

Alongside Intel's launch of the 11th Gen Core "Tiger Lake-H" desktop processor series, NVIDIA debuted its mid-range GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (mobile) and RTX 3050 (mobile) graphics processors. Both chips are designed with typical 3D power ranging between 35 W and 80 W. Both chips are based on the new 8 nm "GA107" silicon. This "Ampere" chip physically packs 2,560 CUDA cores across 20 streaming multiprocessors, with 80 tensor cores, 20 RT cores, and a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface.

The GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (mobile) appears to be maxing out the GA107 silicon, featuring all 2,560 CUDA cores, 80 tensor cores, 20 RT cores, and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory across the chip's 128-bit wide memory bus. The RTX 3050 is slightly cut down, with 16 out of 20 SM enabled. This works out to 2,048 CUDA cores, 64 tensor cores, and 16 RT cores. The memory remains the same—4 GB GDDR6. Clock speeds will vary wildly depending on the notebook model, but typically, the RTX 3050 Ti can boost up to 1695 MHz, while the RTX 3050 can boost up to 1740 MHz. Both chips take advantage of PCI-Express 4.0 and Resizable BAR. The company didn't reveal memory clocks.

TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.39.0 Released

TechPowerUp today released the latest version of TechPowerUp GPU-Z, the tiny-yet-mighty software that gives you information, monitoring, and diagnostics of your PC graphics subsystem. Version 2.39.0 adds support for the Gen12 Xe LP integrated graphics solution found with Intel 11th Gen Core "Rocket Lake" processors. GPU-Z also has the ability to tell the new "Navi 21 XTXH" Radeon RX 6900 XT variant, from the standard RX 6900 XT. Support is also added for NVIDIA RTX 3060 Mobile, RTX 3050 Ti Mobile, RTX 3050 Mobile, RTX A5000, T500, CMP 30HX, CMP 40HX, CMP 90HX; and AMD Radeon Pro W5500M, and Barco MXRT 4700.

Version 2.39.0 also improves in several areas. The integrated screenshot feature is refreshed to better capture the window area. The XML dump is made more usable, with information that includes BIOS UEFI support, WHQL status, Driver Date, DXR, DirectML, OpenGL and Resizable BAR. The video memory utilization sensor is disabled on TCC mode-enabled NVIDIA GPUs. Lenovo Teases NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti Clock Speeds and TGP

NVIDIA is preparing the launch of an entry-level graphics card based on the Ampere architecture, sometimes later in the year, with possible dates being this or the following quarter. The GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti are supposed to be the slowest SKUs in the whole Ampere lineup, representing the least expensive choice from the entire generation. However, we are wondering what the cards will look like and what are some design choices NVIDIA will introduce to these SKUs. Lenovo, the maker of the popular various kinds of laptops, has accidentally listed these exact SKUs in the specification section of its Legion gaming laptop.

The GPUs in question are NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti mobile edition SKUs, probably based on the GA107 GPU SKU. Both versions are equipped with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 128-bit bus. The regular GeForce RTX 3050 SKU is configurable from a TGP of just 60 to 80 Watts. NVIDIA has a Dynamic Boost technology that will pump that by additional 15 Watts and max it out at 95 Watt SKU, which this laptop uses. The maximum boost clock frequency of these cards is 1695 MHz and 1740 MHz, for the RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 GPUs respectively.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050/3050 Ti Laptop GPU Specifications & Performance Leaked

The NVIDIA RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPUs are the next-generation mid-range offerings from NVIDIA for the notebook sector and will soon replace the GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 Ti. The new graphics cards will feature an adjustable TDP in the range of 35 watts all the way up to 80 watts which will greatly impact performance and battery life. The RTX 3050 will feature 2,048 CUDA cores and a base clock between 713 MHz, and 1,530 MHz while the boost clock will vary from 1,057 MHz to 1,740 MHz depending on the selected TDP. The RTX 3050 Ti increases the core count to 2,560 with similar base clocks at 735 MHz to 1,463 MHz along with boost clocks in the range of 1,035 MHz to 1,695 MHz. The two cards will both feature 4 GB of GDDR6 memory with a bandwidth of 88 GB/s. We have a good idea of the expected performance of these cards, with leaked synthetic and gaming testing putting the RTX 3050 Ti near the RTX 2060 Max-Q while the base RTX 3050 trades blows with the GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q.

Lenovo Confirms Various Upcoming GeForce RTX 30-series SKUs

Lenovo may have inadvertently disclosed the existence of several upcoming GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards. The Product Specifications Reference (PSREF) document for a certain Lenovo pre-built gaming desktop model, the Legion R5 28IMB05, lists out all its possible hardware options, covering CPU, graphics cards, and storage. The CPU options cover 10th Gen Core "Comet Lake-S" models that are already out; but things get interesting with the list of graphics options. In addition to certain RTX 20-series, and GTX 16-series SKUs, the list mentions certain RTX 30-series SKUs that haven't yet been announced by NVIDIA.

Among these unreleased GPUs are the GeForce RTX 3050, which is shown featuring 4 GB of GDDR6 memory; the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 6 GB of it; and the GeForce RTX 3060 (non-Ti) with 12 GB of it. The already-launched RTX 3070 also finds mention here. It's likely that these are OEM-exclusive SKUs, but if they're not, then we have our first look at how NVIDIA is handling product segmentation between the RTX 3050 Ti and the RTX 3060 (non-Ti), in a possible bid to avoid a repeat of the GTX 1060 3 GB vs. 6 GB confusion (where besides memory, the two SKUs also had different core-configurations). Based on the GA106 silicon, the GeForce RTX 3060 (non-Ti) is expected to feature a 192-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface, which it populates with 12 GB of memory.
