ZOTAC Gives GeForce GTX 670 Extreme Edition Treatment

ZOTAC seems to have a 2-pronged approach to the GeForce GTX 670, depending on the region it's being sold in. While it took advantage of the compact reference PCB by NVIDIA to come up with the space-saving GTX 670 TwinCooler (ZTGTX670-2GD5TCR001), it did the exact with the GTX 670 Extreme Edition. The card is based on the same exact design as the GTX 680 Extreme Edition, down to its lavish voltage regulation circuitry, with just the GTX 670 ASIC taking the place of the GTX 680.

The card ships with out of the box clock speeds of 1111 MHz (GPU base), 1202 MHz (GPU Boost), and 1652 MHz (memory actual), or 6.60 GHz (memory effective). It draws power from 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and conditions power using a 13-phase VRM that consists of noise-free chokes and PowIRstage DrMOS chips by International Rectifier. ZOTAC GeForce GTX 670 TwinCooler Graphics Card Detailed

One aspect of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 670 that blew us away, was its unusually short PCB for a high-performance GPU. NVIDIA's reference board still ended up being of average length, because NVIDIA's lateral-flow cooling assembly protruded beyond the PCB's length. It draws power from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors, outputs include two dual-link DVI, and one each of HDMI and DisplayPort. It will be launched on the 20th of June.

Axigon GeForce GTX 670 Raptor Edition Launched in China

Axigon, a Palit subsidiary for the Chinese market, launched a new factory-overclocked GeForce GTX 670 graphics card model, the GTX 670 Raptor Edition. Its design involves a reuse of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 reference design board, which supports higher out of the box clock speeds thanks to its stronger cooler and VRM. The card even comes with clock speeds that match those of the GTX 680 (1006/1058/6008 MHz), which leaves only its CUDA core count of 1344 as a difference from the GTX 680. Selling now, the Axigon GeForce GTX 670 Raptor Edition is priced at 2,999 RMB (US $473), in China.

ZOTAC Unveils Custom-Design GeForce GTX 680 AMP! Edition and 4 GB Edition

ZOTAC unveiled two new GeForce GTX 680-based graphics card products, the first is a custom-design AMP! Edition 2 GB (part#: ZTGTX680-2GD5AMPR001), and the other is one that sticks to NVIDIA reference design cooler and PCB, but packs double the memory amount (part#: ZTGTX680-4GD5R001). The ZOTAC GTX 680 AMP! Edition uses a swanky-looking triple-slot cooling solution which packs a large aluminum fin stack to which heat is conveyed by four copper heat pipes. The heatsink is ventilated by two 90 mm PWM-controlled fans. The AMP! Edition comes with clock speeds of 1,110 MHz (core base), 1,176 MHz (core boost), and 6008 MHz memory, against NVIDIA reference speeds of 1,006/1,058/6008 MHz.

The GeForce GTX 680 OC 4 GB Edition, on the other hand, retains NVIDIA reference board design augmented by ZOTAC's swanky orange stickers. The card packs double the memory amount (4 GB vs. 2 GB reference), which could come handy with 3D Vision Surround setups. This card sticks to NVIDIA reference clock speeds, with 1,006 MHz (core base), 1,058 MHz (core boost), and 6008 MHz (memory). Both cards feature the same display output layout, of two dual-link DVI, and one each of HDMI and DisplayPort, and 2x 6-pin PCIe power inputs. Both cards include Assassin's Creed 3-game packs. In Japan, both cards are priced the same, at 60,000 JPY (US $750).

ZOTAC Launches its GeForce GTX 690 Graphics Card, Includes Assassin's Creed Pack

ZOTAC launched its GeForce GTX 690 graphics card. Like every other GTX 690 launched till now, ZOTAC's card sticks to NVIDIA reference board design. It is an indication that NVIDIA imposed restrictions on the AIC partners to modify its design, even placing AIC brand stickers seems to be disallowed, which is a good thing because NVIDIA's design is too good to be spoiled by gaudy stickers. It is likely that ZOTAC sticks to the NVIDIA-suggested price of US $999, but to sweeten the deal, it added a bundle called Assassin's Creed 3-Game Pack, which includes Steam coupons for games from the franchise.

ZOTAC Unveils ZT-Z77-U1D SuperOverclock High-End Motherboard

ZOTAC unveiled a monster LGA1155 motherboard aimed at professional overclockers, and based on the new Intel Z77 Express chipset, the ZT-Z77-U1D. Pictured below, the designers' focus was evidently on giving the motherboard a very strong VRM, apart from just enough expansion and connectivity features for 2-way multi-GPU setups. To begin with, the LGA1155 socket is powered by a 27-phase VRM, which consists of AIO ferrite-core solid-state chokes, DrMOS, tantalum capacitors, and a super-ML multiphase capacitor to condition power. The VRM is controlled by a VRD12-compliant controller.

The LGA1155 socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting dual-channel DDR3-2133+ MHz memory, and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8/x8, when both are populated). Other expansion slots include four PCI-Express 2.0 x1, wired to the Z77 PCH. All six SATA ports from the PCH are assigned as internal ports, that's two SATA 6 Gb/s, and four SATA 3 Gb/s. Display connectivity includes DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. Other connectivity includes 8+2 channel HD audio, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, gigabit Ethernet, six USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear panel, four via headers), and a number of USB 2.0 ports.

ZOTAC GTX 680 Extreme Edition Clocked at 1.20 GHz

ZOTAC's GeForce GTX 680 Extreme Edition is shaping up to be a monster. A preview by Expreview points out its clock speeds out of the box to be 1.20 GHz (base and boost), with memory staying at 1.50 GHz (6.00 GHz GDDR5 effective). The default core voltage is 1.212V. ZOTAC also told the source that the card is capable of delivering 1.5V core voltage to assist in extreme-overclocking. It also goes on to claim that 2.00 GHz core clock speed might just be possible, in the best case scenario (you have the best cooling, best overclocking skillset, best luck).

Apart from a strong VRM (detailed in the older article), the card is also backed by several nifty features, such voltage measurement points, extreme-cooling optimized BIOS, and adequate-looking VRM cooling. The USB mini type-B connector on the back of the card turns out to be not a connection to an OC module, but a USB connection to the motherboard. ZOTAC is routing the card's SMBUS to its Firestorm OC software over USB. Maybe they haven't figured out [how] this could be done through the NVIDIA driver interface, or they didn't trust NVIDIA. For example, NVIDIA blocks SMBUS access to components that they deem "sensitive".

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 Extreme Edition Pictured

ZOTAC is flexing its engineering muscle. First, it was talk of a 2 GHz GeForce GTX 680 by one of its senior executives, and now this, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 Extreme Edition. Pictured below, the card's design is reminiscent of the crazy engineering endeavors ZOTAC China undertakes, to come up with some extremely powerful designs, which seldom get out of the APAC region (to EMEAI and NA regions).

ZOTAC took a top-tier binned GK104 GPU, 2 GB of high-grade Hynix GDDR5 memory chips, and paired them with a 12-phase VRM power supply. Apart from bleeding-edge International Rectifier GaNpowIR driver-MOSFETs, the VRM uses server-grade tantalum capacitors, and FPCAP multi-phase capacitors. To drive it all, ZOTAC used CHiL CHL8318 VRM controller.

ZOTAC Working On GeForce GTX 680 with 2 GHz Core Clock Speed

Speaking at a conference of AIC partners, ZOTAC (China) General Manager Mr. Kwai claimed that his company was working on a "Godly" GeForce GTX 680 non-reference design graphics card, with 2 GHz core clock speed. The card will be designed to demonstrate ZOTAC's engineering potential with non-reference designs. It will be ready by mid-April, 2012. Then again, there could be a catch. ZOTAC China has, in the past, designed certain bleeding-edge graphics cards exclusively for the Chinese market, which never made it to Europe and the US. ZOTAC is an NVIDIA-exclusive brand backed by OEM Goliath PC Partner, which also holds AMD-exclusive brand Sapphire Technology.

Apart from novelty mini-ITX motherboards, ZOTAC wants to put the expertise in motherboard design it gathered to use by getting into value motherboards segment, probably targeting only emerging markets. Display connectivity includes one each of DVI, DisplayPort, and HDMI (surprisingly, no D-Sub). Other connectivity features include 8-channel HD audio and gigabit Ethernet. There are no USB 3.0 ports. This board is targeting a price point of 399 RMB (US $63).

ZOTAC Also Displays Intel Z77-based Mini-ITX Motherboard Geared for Overclocking

ZOTAC also displayed an upcoming socket LGA1155 motherboard based on Intel Z77 chipset, in the mini-ITX form-factor, which is geared for overclocking, that's right, overclocking. ZOTAC has, in the past, designed a similar motherboard based on the Z68 chipset. This mini-ITX board draws power from 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors, it supports upcoming "Ivy Bridge" Unlocked LGA1155 Core processors out of the box.

The LGA1155 socket (LOTES Black, powder-coated to prevent shrinking when subjected to subzero cooling), is powered by an 8-phase VRM circuitry, complete with a feature-rich controller, Pulse-made inductors, and driverMOSFETs (DrMOS), and High-C capacitors. The DrMOS chips are cooled by a high-density heatsink that shares some of its heat with the heatsink over the Z77 PCH, over a heat pipe.

ZOTAC Shows Off Pair of Intel H77-based Mini-ITX LGA1155 Motherboards

ZOTAC showed off a pair of socket LGA1155 motherboards based on Intel's upcoming H77 "Panther Point" chipset, geared for compact desktops and HTPCs. These boards have not yet been named. The first one (pictured below), appears to be the more affordable of the two. It uses a simple 4-phase VRM to power the LGA1155 CPU, which is wired to two DDR3 DIMM slots supporting dual-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory. Its lone expansion slot is a PCI-Express 3.0 x16. Storage connectivity includes two SATA 6 Gb/s, two SATA 3 Gb/s, and an mSATA (probably 3 Gb/s). Its VRM uses cost-effective chokes, and LFPAK MOSFETs.

The more expensive-looking board of the two provides all the features of the other, while making room for an extra SATA 3 Gb/s port, higher-quality VRM that makes use of durable coils, and DriverMOSFETs (DrMOS), and DisplayPort connectivity. Other than the DisplayPort difference, both boards feature 8-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, wireless b/g/n (N 300) connection, USB 3.0, and display connectivity that includes DVI and HDMI.
