InWin Introduces the New 915 E-ATX Enclosure

In Win Development Inc., one of the leading manufacturers of innovative PC enclosures, today unveils its latest E-ATX tower enclosure, the 915. QNAP Rolls Out TS-x73 Series NAS with Quad-core AMD R-Series CPUs

GIGABYTE Intros RX 580 Gaming Box

GIGABYTE today rolled out the RX 580 Gaming Box, an external graphics enclosure with a factory-fitted graphics card. The company's Gaming Box line of external graphics enclosures made their debut with Aorus-branded boxes based on GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards. The company later launched an Aorus-branded GTX 1080 Gaming Box. The new RX 580 Gaming Box (model: GV-RX580IXEB-8GD) encloses a Radeon RX 580 8 GB graphics card, with its core clocked at reference clocks of 1257 MHz core and 1340 MHz boost, out of the box, although a software-toggled "OC Mode" spools up the boost clock to 1355 MHz. The memory is untouched, at 8.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective).

The enclosure takes in a Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) connection, with which it drives not just the graphics card, but also a 3-port USB 3.0 hub. A fourth (orange) USB 3.1 port lacks any data connection, but is a Quick Charge 3-compliant USB port, for charging your devices. Powering the enclosure is a 450W internal PSU with over 90% efficiency. GIGABYTE claims this meets 80 Plus Gold efficiency standards, although is not certified with the 80 Plus logo. Display outputs from the graphics card include three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.0. The enclosure features mesh side windows, and an RGB LED strip controlled with GIGABYTE RGB Fusion software. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Apacer Announces AD100 and AD300 SATA to USB 3.1 Enclosures

Developers on the Move: NVIDIA Partners Working on External GPU Solutions

At SIGGRAPH 2017, NVIDIA announced it is working with a number of partners towards the development of external graphics enclosures that can power - and increase mobility - of their professional-geared GPU solutions. Namely, NVIDIA has announced external GPU solutions featuring the powerful Titan Xp and Quadro graphics cards. These external GPU solutions are meant to upgrade the capability of notebooks to support new workflows such as video editing, interactive rendering, VR content creation, AI development and more. Such has been enabled by the latest, high-bandwidth Thunderbolt 3 protocol. For the Quadro eGPU program specifically, Nvidia is working with established manufacturers like Sonnet, Magma, Akiti, and Bizon. The company says there are more to come.

Pricing information has not been revealed for now, but Titan Xp can already be ordered, while the Quadro solutions will see availability in a few weeks.

SilverStone showed off the Fortress Box (FTB01), an external Thunderbolt enclosure, which expands the connectivity of your notebook. The case stands tall, with a small desk footprint. It encloses a 500W power supply, and plugs into your machine with a Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s) connection. Inside, you'll get a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, letting you install a high-end graphics card (over 25 cm long), and some front-panel connectivity such as USB 3.1 ports. The top of the enclosure scoops into a cavity with air vents, and is arched by a convenient handle.

SilverStone Announces the Vital Series VT02 - Compact Mini-STX Chassis

If you're looking for an enclosure for a media streamer or a work computer, SilverStone has just announced a compact chassis that you might be interested in. The VT02 measures 6.5 (width) x 2.87 (height) x 6.16 inches (depth). The fact that the chassis supports a mini-STX motherboard means you will not be constrained by your choice of an off-the-shelf processor - just remember that a Kaby Lake CPU is required for 4K Netflix. You can even acquire a more powerful drop-in upgrade down the road. The height of the system, however, will severely constrain your choice of cooling, but if you're looking into such a product, you know this already.

The chassis supports 2x 2.5" hard drives or SSDs, with the front panel including 1x USB 3.0 Type-A, 1x USB 3.0 Type-C, and an audio and microphone jack. Thermaltake Intros the Core P7 Tempered Glass Chassis

Thermaltake today introduced the Core P7 TG (tempered glass), a premium quasi-open-air chassis for premium, liquid-cooled builds. This tower-type chassis features a motherboard tray with dual orientation. You can orient your motherboard such that it is perpendicular to the plane of the base with its I/O area pointing upwards; or along the plane of the base (pedestal), with its I/O pointing towards the rear. The main frame holding the motherboard tray has two ends that turn 180° along hinges, so it can create "enclosures" around two sides of the tray.

The case features a multitude of radiator mounts, including 140 mm x 420 mm mounts along the two folding sides of the tray, and mounts for reservoirs and pumps in the reverse side of the motherboard tray. You also get multiple 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drive mounts, depending on how you orient the motherboard tray. The case features 5 mm-thick tempered glass panels. Available now, the Core P7 TG is priced at US $299.

Lian-Li Showcases Numerous New Products at CES 2017

At CES 2017, Lian-Li showcased their latest, upcoming additions to their product lines: from a standing desk to numerous computer cases and an external RAID enclosure, there was something for every taste.

First, Lian Li's latest addition to their standing desk line of products: dubbed the DK-05, this standing desk allows the user to install two different systems (supporting E-ATX motherboards) at the same time, something that its predecessor was unable to do. Lian Li suggests that the chassis could house both a file server and a gaming computer, all within a rather striking exterior of tempered glass and brushed aluminum. The desk features a motorized height adjustment, with knobs on a small control panel on the right side of the desk that control both the height adjustment and the speed of the desk's 12 fans (six for intake, and six for exhaust duty). It also supports triple-slot radiators for augmented cooling capabilities.

ASUS Announces the ROG XG Station 2 External Graphics Enclosure

ASUS today announced the Republic of Gamers (ROG) XG Station 2 external graphics enclosure. A successor to the pioneering XG Station by the company, which launched way back in 2007, this box has the connectivity to drive high-end graphics cards, and expand connectivity of your machine. The enclosure features a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, and two 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors, with which it can supply the card with up to 500W of power. Its power supply can further provide up to 100W of power to recharge your notebook. The internal power supply meets 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating.

The ROG XG Station 2 connects to your notebook or desktop using Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps). It uses this bandwidth to drive not just the graphics card, but also a gigabit Ethernet controller, and a 4-port USB 3.0 hub. You can supplement the main Thunderbolt connection's bandwidth with an additional USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) connection to your host machine. This isn't necessary, but ASUS claims it will improve performance. The enclosure opens up at a vertical seam like an oyster, letting you easily install your graphics card. The walls of the enclosure are perforated, but a trio of 70 mm fans actively ventilate it. The enclosure also features RGB LED lighting, which can be managed using ASUS Aura software. ASUS plans to sell the ROG XG Station 2 from Q1-2017.

ASRock's Beebox-S SFF PCs Upgraded With Kaby Lake CPUs

Remember ASRock's Beebox? The original Mini PC was originally reviewed here on TechPowerUp to a glowing score and wholehearted recommendation, and now, the company has announced an upgrade to its innards that is sure to give a new lease of life to the device's appeal. The upgraded systems are powered by either Intel's Core i5-7100U (2C/4T, 2.5 GHz base and 3.1 GHz Boost clocks) or i3-7200U (2C/4T, 2.4 GHz base clock) CPUs, featuring the Kaby Lake micro-architecture, but are, apart from that, identical to their predecessors. AKiTiO has introduced its new, Thunderbolt 3-powered external graphics box. Akin to Powercolor's Devil Box ($379), Razer's Core ($499) or ASUS' XG2, the AKiTiO Node is meant to house an external graphics card, delivering true discrete-graphics-class performance to your laptop, AIO or SFF PC. One thing the Node has going for it, though, is pricing: this eGFX Box comes in at only $299. At this price-point, the Node makes away with extra connectors found in some of its competitors, like Ethernet or USB 3.0, keeping it as simple and to-the-point as possible: the only port is for its Thunderbolt 3 connection.
