Rosewill Nebula GX50 Review

Introduction

Rosewill is back with a brand new gaming headset lineup, released under the name "Nebula". The Nebula GX50, which I'll be reviewing today, is the most expensive member of the Nebula family, but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's expensive per se - it's a $45 headset. As per usual, Rosewill did their best to pack as many features as humanly possible into a single device, which is why the Nebula GX50 offers a detachable microphone, 7.1 virtual surround sound, an RGB lighting system (haters, worry not - it can be turned off), and a dual-headband design I'm a big fan of.

The Rosewill Nebula GX50 is a USB headset, and it comes with no other connectivity options. What that means is that you can't connect it to sound sources that only accept analogue connections, either through a single TRRS 3.5 mm plug or dual TRS 3.5 mm plugs. The USB connection is also used to power the built-in LEDs and for the virtual 7.1 surround sound to work properly. Rosewill points out that the headset offers software support, which is just another way of saying that it comes with a driver - a first for the company. Let's dive straight into the review and see how it all adds up.
