Intel's latest platform takes power savings and burns it to the ground in favor of performance. That means that power consumption and a board's VRM design are once again highly critical components that form an integral part when it comes to building a truly capable product. In my open test bench with very limited airflow, ASRock's X299 Taichi did really quite well, both at stock and under a considerable overclock. The X299 Taichi is more than ready to push the limits of what traditional CPU cooling will allow for under harsh conditions, even with the most robust AIOs or a full water loop strapped on top.
