Introduction

I would like to thank Airlive for supplying the review sample.

To give you an idea about the history behind AirLive, this is a quote from the AirLive website:
'The manufacturer of AirLive products, OvisLink Corp. was founded in 1993 in Taiwan by a group of industrial experts who set out to provide the best combination of quality, service, technology and value in the industry. Today, OvisLink Corp. is an international corporation, total networking solution provider with over 200 products and with hundreds of distributors around the world. Our industry technology leadership is indisputable. OvisLink Corp. was the first company in Taiwan to introduce Fast-Ethernet NICs and Switches when IEEE 802.3u standard was established in 1996. Moreover, OvisLink Corp. entered the WLAN market in 2001 with the AirLive series and became the major provider of wireless solutions. In 2004, Our WMU-9000VPN multimedia router won the Best of Computex award for its excellent multi-function capability. When you choose us as a partner, you can be sure that we will provide you with the latest innovative solutions.
The AirTV-1000U can be used in (most of) Europe, Oceania, Russia, India and various other countries. The AirTV can only receive Free-to-air video and radio channels. It can not decode paid channels. This means that in The Netherlands for example you can only receive three national channels and various regional channels depending on the location in the country. In the UK for example there is a wider choice of digital channels that can be viewed. I believe the operator that broadcasts the DVB-T signal in the UK is called 'Freeview'. Look it up if you are situated in the UK and interested in DVB-T or look up the operator(s) in the country that you live in.

Specifications:

Packaging & Contents

AirLive ships the unit in a clear plastic package, which can be hung up on a store shelf. The USB DVB-T Stick is clearly visible. The rear holds the remote control and also lists the device's features in multiple languages.

Within the package you will find a USB extension cable, so that you won't need to crawl behind the PC every time you want to plug the AirTV-1000U into your PC. The cable also enables you to place the unit by a window for example, to gain better reception. A driver CD and the afore mentioned remote control round up the extras of the AirTV-1000U.
