Performance

Bitfenix's Flo headset is quite a pleasant surprise. When a case company launches a headset, you are immediately a little skeptical, to say the least, but they actually pulled it off by creating a fine kit with their first attempt. The bundle is great since it comes with choice - you have the ability to pick an on-cable and microphone arrangement. Even more important is that this headset actually sounds really good. It is comparable to the more expensive QPAD QH-90 in sound quality, but is a far lighter design, which will suit many gamers well. The suspended headband design also works well on the Flo, and the clamping pressure is somewhat similar to what you get on a set of Audio Technica AD-700s, which is great.

Their sound is warmish, but the midrange is still very present and clean. The bottom end is full and only misses a little extension compared to that of the QH-90s, which is impressive. The top-end is a bit more limited than that of the QH-90s, but it is not as severely compromised as on other mid- to low-end headsets from, for instance, Ozone Gaming.

The Flo is pretty close to the QPAD QH-90s in terms of comfort. Both headphones are equally hot, but the Flo has an advantage since it is substantially lighter and comes with less clamping force. The Flow's only drawback is that your ears touch the insides of the cups. While not a major problem for my ears, it might be to some. There is also a slight issue with its cup-to-head alignment since the cups feature no swivel mechanism.

This headset is in many ways very similar to the QH-90s when it comes time to game. Both have a relatively uncolored midrange, which is great for detail recovery; that is, where it matters to most games. They also both have a good sound stage, which makes it pretty easy to consistently hear where other players are in relation to yourself. When it comes to music playback, they are both close to one another since they provide good bass and midrange performance with a slightly recessed treble.
