OverclockingThe overclocks listed in this section were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS. Please note that every single sample overclocks differently, that's why our results here can only serve as a guideline for what you can expect from your card.
Maximum stable clocks of our card are 1245 MHz core (25% overclock) and 1545 MHz Memory (26% overclock).
We see very good overclocking potential for GPU clock, which is the best of all HD 7850 cards that we've reviewed so far. Memory overclocking works great too, and ends up higher than all custom designs, yet can not beat the AMD reference board.
|Maximum Overclock Comparison|
|Max. GPU Clock||Max. Memory Clock|
|PowerColor HD 7850 PCS+||1245 MHz||1545 MHz|
|MSI R7850 Power Edition||1120 MHz||1515 MHz|
|ASUS HD 7850 DirectCU II||1240 MHz||1530 MHz|
|AMD HD 7850||1140 MHz||1580 MHz|
Important: Each GPU (including each GPU of the same make and model)
will overclock slightly differently based on random production variances.
This table just serves to provide a list of typical overclocks for similar cards,
reached during TPU review.
Overclocked PerformanceUsing these clock frequencies we ran a quick test of Battlefield 3 to evaluate the gains from overclocking.
Actual 3D performance gained from overclocking is 10.6%.
