QPAD|UC Gaming Surface Review

Durability

Being a cloth based mat it has some durability issues. Once you spill something containing sugar on it, the glide will be gone and you will need to invest in a new one. If it is just water then it will be alright once it is dry again. You can definitely see that QPAD has done their very best when it comes to edge integrity and surface quality. Even though I have used it a lot and scratched it intentionally it has not become fuzzy at all.

Value and Conclusion

  • The QPAD|UC Gaming Surface is available from QPAD and will cost around €24 shipped for the extra large one.
  • Large surface area
  • Good glide for a soft mat
  • Very well constructed for a cloth mat
  • Edges do not floss
  • Relatively hard surface
  • Teflon glides included (best suited for Microsoft IME-series mice)
  • Comfortable to use
  • Not that thick
  • Does not look horrible
  • Easy to transport
  • Slides around on your desk a bit
  • Durability only good for a soft mat, not nearly as tough as a hard one
  • Box hurts the mat a bit, takes a few days for it to flatten out
  • Expensive for a cloth mat
This mat is a good cloth mat which has the size to accommodate even extreme low sensitivity gamers. With its thickness of only 3 mm it does not hurt the wrist and the shape makes for very good ergonomics. Overall it is just a bit better than the other cloth mats I have been in contact with over the last year, but not by much. The fabrication quality is above that of most gamer grade soft mats by a small margin. The glide is really good, balanced and even across the entire surface. It still has the same flaws as almost all other soft type mats on the market today including hybrid mats in the sense that is slides around a bit on a normal wooden desk.
QPAD makes this mat in four different sizes so you can most likely find one in a size that suits you. Like all other QPAD products you get a slice of Teflon with the mat. It is of an extremely good quality and definitely boosts the glide quite a bit, in comparison to using normal stock mice feet on the mat, with the exception of new performance gaming mice.
