Packaging and Contents

Measuring in at 16.5 cm in length, 25.4 cm in height with the lip, and 14.6 cm in width, the box the Grandis XE1236 comes in features a bold two-colored design. The top of the box only features the product name and design in two colors. The front shows off the CPU cooler, company logo, and product name. Specifications for the Grandis XE1236 are found on the left side.

On the back of the box are the Grandis XE1236's feature list and the fact that it supports AMD and Intel sockets. The right side comes with another image of the cooler, with a smaller inset image of the cooler's own copper base.

The packaging, while adequate, could be better. Silentium PC used a plastic shell to protect the cooler, while the second fan and the mounting hardware are in smaller cardboard boxes. It is not the worst packaging I have seen in terms of protection offered, but it is a far cry from the best. All in all, it is what I expected as top-tier packaging adds to the cost and SilentiumPC meant to keep performance up and cost down, which had the packaging take a hit. However, I am happy to report that they have offered more than the bare minimum in protection, which is "smart cost-cutting" indeed.

The Grandis XE1236 from SilentiumPC supports all modern sockets, and its universal mounting system should make it fairly easy to install. SilentiumPC has even included another set of fan clips for a triple-fan setup should users wish to kick things up a notch.
