Streacom DB4 Review

Packaging & Content - ZF240 PSU

Before we take a closer look at the chassis, there is the PSU. As the DB4 requires a compact unit, Streacom was kind enough to send us the ZF240, their premium passive 240 W unit, to complete this review. It ships in a plain brown box with a black sticker on it, which also acts as a seal.

You will also receive a power cord, just like you would with retail ATX units.

A Closer Look - ZF240 PSU

The Streacom ZF240 is quite compact and is equipped with a black heat spreader. Only the ATX cable strand is encased in black mesh, while all the others are their usual color. While it would have been nice to see nothing but sleeved cables, Streacom cases do not usually come with a window, so it does not really matter. A compact power lead is also attached to the PSU instead of having a direct plug. This is important as you will end up installing the unit in various unique places - depending on which Streacom chassis you own.

The heat spreader is attached to an aluminum cooling block In an otherwise clean but cramped unit. There are several additional thermal pads to spread the heat around the PSU chassis itself. To go with a quiet system, the ZF240 is completely passive, with 93 % or higher efficiency. Streacom mentions that the unit would be rated for 450 W if it were to come with a cooling fan.
