Value & Conclusion

  • While we did not manage to find current retail pricing for the 6 GB kit of the Team Group Xtreem 2000 MHz CL7-8-7-20, expect to pay around 200 € for it. This is the price premium you will have to pay for high-performance low-latency. The only retail price I found was for the CL9 2000 MHz Xtreem kit, which will set you back around 160 €.
  • Good voltage scaling at higher CL
  • Clean SPD & XMP programming
  • Runs CL5 at 1.5V above 1333 MHz
  • Manages 1800+ MHz at CL6
  • Healthy overclocking headroom at CL7-8-7
  • Runs above 2000 MHz CL8 with a mere 1.5V
  • Heavy, hiqh quality heatspreaders
  • You may mount fans on the heatspreaders
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Pricey
  • Limited availability
  • Heatspreaders do not make proper contact
  • Voltage scaling not as constant & rewarding as some other kits
  • Better have a system that can handle a Baseclk above 205 MHz
  • Big ugly sticker on such nice heatspreaders *sigh*
The Team Group Xtreem 2000 MHz CL7-8-7 kit utilizes modern ICs to manage the speed at 1.65V. This puts it in line with the Intel specifications. The kit comes close to what is possible today with the latest memory standard. Many companies are currently pushing dual and triple channel kits with 2000 MHz and more at tight timings and the Xtreem kit from Team Group is certainly putting up an excellent fight with great performance and some good voltage scaling. Some of the highlights like the ability to run at CL5 with 1.5V and enough power to push our test system to its limit are just two aspects that lessen the pain you will have after spending so much money on a 6 GB kit. Considering the fact that the kit manages 2050 MHz at CL8 with 1.5V right out of the gate, also means that there is room for more. Thus 2100+ MHz should be possible with these DIMMs if you have a system that can handle the CPU and Baseclk overclock. That said, if you have the money to spend, the parts to run the kit to its limits and the guts to push your system all the way - this kit should definitely be taken into consideration.
