have LGA 1155 motherboard which xeon processor will fit ?

Hai Guys,
I have motherboard ( if im remember correctly is a H61 ) LGA 1155, with processor Intel G2020 ( sadly this processor is dead ).
so i think i will use this motherboard pairing with Xeon processor, and running linux as server for me to do experiment about linux and server.

may help me to give some insight about Xeon processor, cause i'm new in Xeon and its hard to search Xeon article in my country.

Literally any first gen E3-12xx as a given + E3-12xx V2 if this mobo supports Ivy Bridge (check your BIOS version).
E3-1240 (or its V2 counterpart) should be the best value. Want an iGPU, pick an E3-12x5 CPU. 1220 series is to avoid because only have 4 threads.

Like I said, your only options are plain E3-12xx and E3-12xx V2. V3, V4, V5 onwards are not compatible with your motherboard.

If you have a discrete GPU and don't do any streaming involving QuickSync then iGPU is only useful as a fall-back GPU. It isn't fast.

And I can't tell you what is the best value if I don't know the prices.

Ivy Bridge's one is surprisingly potent. I recorded Cyberpunk 2077 with minimal losses compared to Rocket Lake FWIW.

The gameplay itself was a mess because 3570K, even clocked to stupid 4.7 GHz, is still an ancient 4C4T CPU.

from performance grade, I could tell Haswell iGPU are even kindda "playable" for some old games. So I don't consider anything seriously below. Same goes for CPU perf, Haswell are even these days are OK for office and light web usage, whether 1155 is much slower.

It's kinda "are you joking now?" if Intel's iGPU is unironically used for gaming. Like you said, GTX 750 is much better than that.

But QSV is great. Having a fall-back GPU is also fun.

I have played with GMA965 some old games. I know man who SUCCESFULLY played CSGO on i3-2120 iGPU and fkin 4 GB ram... I've played on i7-3***U iGPU some old games... and Haswell iGPU is pretty well playable, and newer the iGPU, better the case lol... yeah AMD one is better but it never achieves 60 stable even at FHD on modern games... so stop claiming intel igpu is sh..t...

Would be nice to know the exact model of OP's H61 board so it's easy to see its CPU support list.

Though an i7-2600/3770 would be practically the same thing as those consumer-Xeons are practically the same chip. Xeon does support ECC though if you need that.

I may be mistaken but isn’t the E3 1245 v5 a 1151 chip and the OPs board is 1155?

I’m with Kuello on this, Sandy i7 2600 or 2700 would likely be a better fit. Still very useable today at quad core 8 threads.

E3 1245 v5 is a Skylake chip, and that was the first generation that didn't work in consumer boards.

V3 chips were Haswell and used the 1150 socket. I have an E3 1270 v3 in my secondary system, which is basically an i7-4770, and it's a solid performer.

OP, if your board supports Ivy Bridge and any of the 77W 4C8T chips (E3 1240 v2 and up) are a good price, get one of those. Get the E3 12x5 v2 chips if you need an iGPU.

I had gaming PC for play a game. i just want to try to build server env.

The processor you should buy is specifically the E3-1275 v2, or the i7 3770. If your motherboard does not support i7 3000 series, then it's i7 2600 or E3-1275. Both should be inexpensive by now. I personally recommend buying a i7 3770 if 3rd gen is supported.
