The Crucial BX500 is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched in September 2018. It is available in capacities ranging from 240 GB to 480 GB. This page reports specifications for the 480 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Crucial BX500 interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2258XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Crucial has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the BX500, the flash chips are made by Micron. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are absorbed more quickly. The cache is sized at 24 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 120 MB/s. The BX500 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 540 MB/s and 500 MB/s write.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 54 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Crucial guarantees an endurance rating of 120 TBW, a relatively low value compared to other SSDs.

Notes

Drive:

2nd revisions have 96-Layers (B27A / B27B) TLC NAND and Silicon Motion SM2259XT (NW951)
3rd revisions might come with 128-Layers from Micron
pSLC Cache volume might vary from 24GB to 32GB depending on the revision.

Controller:

This controller - as per all "XT" Silicon Motion's controller - doesn't support DRAM.
Controller clock ranges between 400 MHz ~ 437.5 MHz
