The OCZ Vertex 460 was a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on January 22nd, 2014, that is no longer in production. It was available in capacities ranging from 120 GB to 480 GB. This page reports specifications for the 240 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the OCZ Vertex 460 interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the Barefoot 3 M10 IDX500M10-BC from Indilinx, a DRAM cache chip is available. OCZ has installed MLC NAND flash on the Vertex 460, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are processed more quickly. The Vertex 460 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 540 MB/s and 525 MB/s write; random IOPS reach up to 85K for reads and 90K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 190 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. OCZ guarantees an endurance rating of 22 TBW, a very low value compared to other SSDs.
