The Patriot Burst Elite is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched in 2020. It is available in capacities ranging from 960 GB to 1.9 TB. This page reports specifications for the 1.9 TB variant. With the rest of the system, the Patriot Burst Elite interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2259XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Patriot has installed 64-layer QLC NAND flash on the Burst Elite, the flash chips are made by Micron. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The cache is sized at 480 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 200 MB/s. The Burst Elite is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 450 MB/s and 320 MB/s write; random IO reaches 40K IOPS for read and 40K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 145 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Patriot guarantees an endurance rating of 800 TBW, a typical value for consumer SSDs.
