The Synology SAT5200 is a solid-state drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, launched in September 2020. It is available in capacities ranging from 480 GB to 960 GB. This page reports specifications for the 480 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Synology SAT5200 interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the PS3112-S12DC-27 from Phison, a DRAM cache chip is available. Synology has installed 96-layer TLC NAND flash on the SAT5200, the flash chips are made by Micron. To improve write speeds, a cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The SAT5200 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 530 MB/s and 500 MB/s write; random IO reaches 96K IOPS for read and 55K for writes.
The SSD's price at launch is unknown. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Synology guarantees an endurance rating of 1097 TBW, a high value.
