The Teamgroup T-Create Expert is a solid-state drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, launched on May 7th, 2021. It is available in capacities ranging from 1 TB to 2 TB. This page reports specifications for the 2 TB variant. With the rest of the system, the Teamgroup T-Create Expert interfaces using a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 connection. The SSD controller is the SM2262ENG from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache chip is available. Teamgroup has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the T-Create Expert, the flash chips are made by Micron. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The cache is sized at 326 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 1300 MB/s. Copying data out of the SLC cache (folding) completes at 950 MB/s. The T-Create Expert is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 3,400 MB/s and 3,000 MB/s write; random IO reaches 180K IOPS for read and 140K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 800 USD. The warranty length is set to 12 years, which is a very long warranty, better than most other drives on the market. Teamgroup guarantees an endurance rating of 12000 TBW, a high value.
