EMTEK Launches GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER MIRACLE X3 White 12 GB Graphics Card

EMTEK products rarely pop up on TPU's news section, but the GPU database contains a smattering of the South Korean manufacturer's Ampere-based GeForce RTX graphics card. VideoCardz has discovered an updated MIRACLE X3 White model—EMTEK's latest release is a GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12 GB card. The triple-fan model seems to stick with NVIDIA's reference specifications—VideoCardz also noticed a physical similarity: "under the cooler shroud, the card boasts a non-standard U-shaped PCB, reminiscent of Team Green's Founders Edition. However, it remains uncertain whether EMTEK utilizes the same PCB as NVIDIA." The asking price—of ₩919,990—converts to around $680, when factoring in regional taxes. EMTEK's MIRACLE X3 cooling solution seems to be fairly robust—featuring four 6 mm heat pipes—so an adherence to stock clocks is a slight surprise. The company's GAMING PRO line includes a couple of factory overclocked options.

Samsung Shows Off 32 Gbps GDDR7 Memory at GTC

Samsung Electronics showed off its latest graphics memory innovations at GTC, with an exhibit of its new 32 Gbps GDDR7 memory chip. The chip is designed to power the next generation of consumer and professional graphics cards, and some models of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX "Blackwell" generation are expected to implement GDDR7. The chip Samsung showed off at GTC is of the highly relevant 16 Gbit density (2 GB). This is important, as NVIDIA is rumored to keep graphics card memory sizes largely similar to where they currently are, while only focusing on increasing memory speeds.

The Samsung GDDR7 chip shown is capable of its 32 Gbps speed at a DRAM voltage of just 1.1 V, which beats the 1.2 V that's part of JEDEC's GDDR7 specification, which along with other power management innovations specific to Samsung, translates to a 20% improvement in energy efficiency. Although this chip is capable of 32 Gbps, NVIDIA isn't expected to give its first GeForce RTX "Blackwell" graphics cards that speed, and the first SKUs are expected to ship with 28 Gbps GDDR7 memory speeds, which means NVIDIA could run this Samsung chip at a slightly lower voltage, or with better timings. Samsung also made some innovations with the package substrate, which decreases thermal resistance by 70% compared to its GDDR6 chips. Both NVIDIA and AMD are expected to launch their first discrete GPUs implementing GDDR7, in the second half of 2024.

ASUS Lists Low-Profile GeForce RTX 3050 BRK 6 GB Graphics Cards

NVIDIA's recent launch of a "new" entry-level gaming GPU has not set pulses racing—their return visit to Ampere City arrived in the form of custom GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB graphics cards. The absence of a reference model sometimes signals a low expectation, but Team Green's partners have pushed ahead with a surprisingly diverse portfolio of options. Early last month, Galax introduced a low-profile white design—the custom GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB card's slot-powered operation presents an ideal solution for super compact low-power footprint builds. ASUS is readying its own dual-fan low-profile models—as evidenced by official product pages. The listings do not reveal release dates or recommended price points for the reference-clocked GeForce RTX 3050 LP BRK 6 GB card, and its OC sibling. ASUS believes that both models offer "big productivity in a small package."

Low-profile card enthusiasts have warmly welcomed new-ish GeForce RTX 4060 GPU-based solutions—courtesy of ASUS and GIGABYTE, but reported $300+ MSRPs have likely put off budget-conscious buyers. A sub-$200 price point is a more palatable prospect, especially for system builders who are not all bothered about cutting-edge gaming performance. A DVI-D connector ensures legacy compatibility, alongside modern port standards: HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4a. As mentioned before, ASUS has not publicly disclosed its pricing policy for the GeForce RTX 3050 LP BRK 6 GB card (and its OC variant)—the manufacturer's Dual and Dual OC models retail in a range of $170 - $180. Graphics card watchdogs reckon that the LP BRK designs will warrant a small premium over normal-sized products.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs Now Priced Below MSRP in Germany

Two months ago, NVIDIA introduced its GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series to the market, bringing a trio of models: RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4080 SUPER. Today, according to the report from ComputerBase, NVIDIA's latest trio has recorded a drop in pricing recently, and it now retails under MSRP in German stores. The RTX 4070 SUPER started with an MSRP of 659 Euros ($599 in the US) and is now available from 589 Euros. Its older brother, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, started with an MSRP listing of 889 Euros ($799 in the US) and is now retailing from 840 Euros. Lastly, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER has been listed at 1,109 Euros ($999 in the US) and is now retailing with a small discount at 1,092 Euros.

Once NVIDIA launched a new GPU generation, it became a custom for these cards to be retailed over their MSRP long before prices were adjusted and settled. However, with the latest SUPER refresh, this seems to be one of the fastest price adjustments. This could be caused by either an improvement in the supply chain or leveled supply and demand, making it so that these cards are finally trading below their launch-level MSRPs.

NVIDIA RTX 50-series "GB20X" GPU Memory Interface Details Leak Out

Earlier in the week it was revealed that NVIDIA had distributed next-gen AI GPUs to its most important ecosystem partners and customers—Dell's CEO expressed enthusiasm with his discussion of "Blackwell" B100 and B200 evaluation samples. Team Green's next-gen family of gaming GPUs have received less media attention in early 2024—a mid-February TPU report pointed to a rumored PCIe 6.0 CEM specification for upcoming RTX 50-series cards, but leaks have become uncommon since late last year. Top technology tipster, kopite7kimi, has broken the relative silence on Blackwell's gaming configurations—an early hours tweet posits a slightly underwhelming scenario: "although I still have fantasies about 512 bit, the memory interface configuration of GB20x is not much different from that of AD10x."

Past disclosures have hinted about next-gen NVIDIA gaming GPUs sporting memory interface configurations comparable to the current crop of "Ada Lovelace" models. The latest batch of insider information suggests that Team Green's next flagship GeForce RTX GPU—GB202—will stick with a 384-bit memory bus. The beefiest current-gen GPU AD102—as featured in GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards—is specced with a 384-bit interface. A significant upgrade for GeForce RTX 50xx cards could arrive with a step-up to next-gen GDDR7 memory—kopite7kimi reckons that top GPU designers will stick with 16 Gbit memory chip densities (2 GB). JEDEC officially announced its "GDDR7 Graphics Memory Standard" a couple of days ago. VideoCardz has kindly assembled the latest batch of insider info into a cross-generation comparison table (see below).

MSI Preparing New RTX 4070 Ti Super Expert and RTX 4070 Ti Super Aero

MSI is apparently preparing to unveil two more GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics cards, the MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super Expert and the MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super Aero. The new MSI Expert series was unveiled at the CES show back in January, and currently, MSI only uses the design on the MSI RTX 4080 Super graphics card. On the other hand, the Aero series has been around for quite some time, but we haven't seen many of those cards, unless you count the Aero ITX version of the GeForce RTX 4060. As Videocardz.com notes, MSI actually has a total of 12 different RTX 4070 Ti Super designs, and that did not stop it from adding two more, despite the fact that the RTX 4070 Ti Super was only announced just over a month ago.

The MSI Expert lineup is quite an interesting design, announced back at the CES 2024 show, and uses a triple-slot design with a rather interesting fan placement taken from NVIDIA's Founder's Edition book. It features two fans, one at the front and one at the back of the card, pushing air in opposite directions. MSI has decided to call the new cooling solution the "MSI Flow Frozr". The front also features a mesh metal cover, which does look quite interesting.

NVIDIA Accused of Acting as "GPU Cartel" and Controlling Supply

World's most important fuel of the AI frenzy, NVIDIA, is facing accusations of acting as a "GPU cartel" and controlling supply in the data center market, according to statements made by executives at rival chipmaker Groq and former AMD executive Scott Herkelman. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Groq CEO Jonathan Ross alleged that some of NVIDIA's data center customers are afraid to even meet with rival AI chipmakers out of fear that NVIDIA will retaliate by delaying shipments of already ordered GPUs. This is despite NVIDIA's claims that it is trying to allocate supply fairly during global shortages. "This happens more than you expect, NVIDIA does this with DC customers, OEMs, AIBs, press, and resellers. They learned from GPP to not put it into writing. They just don't ship after a customer has ordered. They are the GPU cartel, and they control all supply," said former Senior Vice President and General Manager at AMD Radeon, Scott Herkelman, in response to the accusations on X/Twitter.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE To Launch Globally on February 27

AMD's Radeon RX 7900 GRE, or Golden Rabbit Edition, which was previously available only to the Chinese market, will launch globally on February 27. According to the leaked slides, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE will launch at $549, and AMD is comparing it to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 non-SUPER graphics card. In case you missed it, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE is based on the Navi 31 XL GPU with 80 Compute Units (CUs), which leaves it with 5120 Stream Processors, and comes with 16 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface, which adds up to a maximum bandwidth of 576 GB/s. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE should fit nicely between the Radeon RX 7900 XT and the Radeon RX 7800 XT.

According to the leaked slides, AMD is comparing the Radeon RX 7900 GRE against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 non-SUPER, which now shares the same price after the recent $50 price cut. According to AMD's own slides, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE should provide around 14 percent more performance per buck on average, and is between 1 and 32 percent faster, at least in games tested by AMD.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and 4060 Ti Founders Edition Get Price Drop in China

Both the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and the RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition graphics cards have seen a price drop in China, pushing them below the original MSRP. Targeting the mainstream segment, these two graphics cards held at MSRP for quite some time, but now, some retailers are listing these Founders Edition at a reduced price.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition is currently listed for 4599 RMB at JD.com, which is 200 RMB lower than its official MSRP. The same goes for the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition, which is currently listed at 2999 RMB. Some custom versions from NVIDIA AIC partners can be found with an even lower price tag, and it could be a result of AMD's push to sell the Radeon RX 6750 GRE in China and slash the sales of the new Radeon RX 7600 series. It is yet to be seen if these price cuts will be coming to the rest of the world, as we will certainly keep a close eye on US and European retailers/e-tailers.

KFA2 Intros GeForce RTX 3050 6GB EX Graphics Card

KFA2, the EU-focused brand of graphics cards by Galax, today released the GeForce RTX 3050 6 GB EX, a somewhat premium take on the recently released entry-level GPU by NVIDIA. The KFA2 EX features a spruced up aluminium fin-stack heatsink that uses a flattened copper heatpipe to make broader contact with the GPU, and spread the heat better across the fin-stack. The 22.4 cm long card also has a couple of premium touches, such as a metal backplate, and RGB LED lighting. The lighting setup includes physical switch on the tail end of the card, with which you can turn it off. Also featured is idle fan-stop. The card offers a tiny factory overclock of 1485 MHz boost, compared to 1475 MHz reference. It sticks with PCIe slot power, there are no additional power connectors.
