Adobe's Premiere Pro, one of the most common video editing tools in the industry, has received a February update today with version 22.2. The new version brings a wide array of features like Adobe Remix, an advanced audio retiming tool. Alongside that, the latest update accelerates offline text-to-speech capabilities by as much as three times. However, this is not the most significant feature, as we are about to see. Adobe also enabled 10-bit 420 HDR HEVC H/W encoding on Window with Intel and NVIDIA graphics. This feature allows the software to use advanced hardware built-in the NVIDIA Quadro RTX and Intel Iris Xe graphics cards.

The company managed to run some preliminary tests, and you can see the charts below. They significantly improve export times with the latest 22.2 software version that enables HEVC 10-Bit hardware encoding. For Intel GPUs, no special drivers need to be installed. However, for NVIDIA GPUs, Adobe is advising official Studio drivers in combination with Quadro RTX GPUs.

The most popular cryptocurrency by market-cap, Bitcoin, has dropped in value to below the USD $40,000-mark, to $38,429 as of this writing. This amounts to a whopping 43% drop in value from its November 2021 peak of roughly $67,600. Ethereum has also seen an 8% fall over the past 24 hours, as has the value of several other cryptocurrencies. While we won't get into the nuts and bolts of Bitcoin volatility or hand out any financial advice, this could have an impact on graphics card availability owing to a multitude of reasons.

As of this writing, we see the GeForce RTX 3080 commanding a scalper price of roughly $1,500 (brand new), for the LHR variant (lower crypto-mining performance), while non-LHR cards that are used, start around $1,900. If the fall in cryptocurrencies continues, we could see increased availability of used graphics cards from crypto miners, as gamers would be willing to buy a used RTX 30-series or RX 6000 series graphics card that's still within its warranty period (of 2 years).

NVIDIA's RTX 3090 Ti is hot on the presses, and while actual product availability is anyone's guess, the card has already been made available for order (in extremely limited quantities, as one might expect). That said, the lack of a clear pricing messaging from NVIDIA seems to have left the door open for truly egregious pricing practices, which are likely added to at every step of the supply chain from the green team's AIB (add-in-board) partners and their custom RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards. Case in point: European, Swiss retailer Top Preise has started listing the latest NVIDIA halo card at a cool, not at all jaw-dropping average of €3,600 ($4,000). This is easily the highest-ever-pricing practiced on a consumer-level graphics card, so if anything, 2022 seems to have at least brought us that particular record-setting. Of course, pricing of a single retailer doesn't prove a pricing trend; but the fact that the cards are priced at untidy values does seem to indicate these aren't placeholder values.

This is much the case as has happened with NVIDIA's recent launch of the RTX 3080 12 GB - that card too didn't receive public MSRP guidance from NVIDIA, leaving its board partners - and retailers - to carve whatever pricing philosophy they deem adequate, considering the current state of the market, expected demand for NVIDIA's latest and greatest, and, of course, additional profits. Considering how the RTX 3080 12 GB has been found in store shelves for around $1,700 (remember the original MSRP for the RTX 3080 8 GB was set at $699), an upgrade to the RTX 3090 Ti would be a very expensive, $2,300 proposition for a relatively small performance improvement.

In the past few months, we have heard rumors of NVIDIA launching an upgraded version of the GA102 silicon called GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The upgraded version is supposed to max out the chip and bring additional performance to the table. According to anonymous sources of VideoCardz, MSI, one of NVIDIA's add-in board (AIB) partners, is preparing to update its SUPRIM X lineup of graphics cards with the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X GPU, scheduled for January 27th launch date. This suggests that the official NDA lifts for these RTX 3090 Ti GPUs on January 27th, meaning that we could see AIBs teasing their models very soon.

As a general reminder, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card should use a GA102-350 silicon SKU with 84 SMs, 10752 CUDA cores, 336 TMUs, 24 GB of GDDR6X memory running on a 384-bit bus at 21 Gbps speed with 1008 GB/s bandwidth, and a TBP of a whopping 450 Watts. If these specifications remain valid, the GPU could become the top contender in the market, however, with a massive drawback of pulling nearly half a KiloWatt of power.

As much as we love teasers of new products, it's frustrating when said teasers give away zero information about the actual product and that is sadly what Intel's first Arc video manages to do. The only conclusion we can draw is that the in-game footage, at least in some games, was recorded at 1440p, as the video was uploaded in 1440p rather than 1080p.

The games being showcased are Riders Republic, Age of Empires IV, Back 4 Blood, Rift Breaker, Hitman III and Arcadegeddon. No frame rates are being displayed and only a few games have any comments to go with the footage. Rift Breaker for example, has a notification saying it's using AI-enhanced upscaling and Hitman III is supposed to be using "next-gen graphics with ray tracing" although no obvious ray tracing effects are noticed in the three second clip. The end of the video shows off a rendered PC and laptop, both with Intel ARC displayed on them, suggesting that Intel hasn't decided if it's Arc or ARC that its new graphics cards are going to be called. At least the Q1 2022 date gives us an idea on when some more information should be revealed.

GIGABYTE joined the 12 GB GeForce RTX 2060 comeback party with two custom-design graphics card models, the RTX 2060 D6 12G, and the larger RTX 2060 WindForce OC 12G. NVIDIA formally released the RTX 2060 12 GB on December 7. This isn't just an RTX 2060 with double the memory amount (12 GB vs. 6 GB), but also an increase in CUDA cores, to 2,176, up from 1,920 on the original. What sets the RTX 2060 12 GB apart from the RTX 2060 SUPER is that the memory bus is still 192-bit wide, compared to 256-bit on the latter.

The GIGABYTE RTX 2060 12 GB D6 features a more compact (22.4 cm long) WindForce 2X cooling solution that uses a pair of 90 mm fans. This SKU sticks to NVIDIA-reference clock speeds of 1650 MHz boost. The RTX 2060 12 GB WindForce OC, on the other hand, features a larger 26.5 cm-long board design, with 100 mm fans, and a heavier heatsink. This card packs a mild factory-overclock, running the GPU at 1680 MHz boost. Both cards rely on a single 8-pin PCIe power connector for power. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Jon Peddie Research reports the growth of the global PC-based Graphics Processor Units (GPU) market reached 101 million units in Q3'21 and PC CPUs shipments increased by 9% year over year. Overall, GPUs will have a compound annual growth rate of -1.1% during 2020-2025 and reach an installed base of 3,249 million units at the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of discrete GPUs (dGPU) in the PC will grow to reach a level of 31%.

AMD's overall market share percentage from last quarter increased 1.4%, Intel's market share decreased by -6.2%, and Nvidia's market share increased 4.86%, as indicated in the following chart.

Chinese company Innosilicon Technology has recently announced their Fenghua No.1 high-performance server graphics card. The card features a dual-fan cooling design with HDMI 2.1 and Embedded DisplayPort 1.4 video connectors. The card will utilize a PCIe 4.0 connector and features GDDR6X memory developed by Innosilicon Technology with potential speeds of 21 Gbps. We have seen announcements from Chinese companies with similar products in the past but this recent announcement is the first to include support for a variety of graphics APIs including DirectX. The press release from the company didn't specify the DirectX version supported but also noted that the card will support OpenGL, OpenGLES, OpenCL, and Vulkan which will enable VR, AR, and AI applications.

Intel's Arc Alchemist lineup of graphics cards, based on Xe-HPG GPU configuration, is nearing the launch. With the current situation with AMD and NVIDIA GPUs outputting graphics card prices over the default MSRP, we wonder how Intel would place pricing of its upcoming GPUs and fit inside the market. And today, we got the first round of speculations based on Intel's Arc Alchemist GPU giveaway called Xe-HPG Scavenger Hunt. There are two principal bundles: one worth $900 that includes Intel Arc merchandise, Xbox Game Pass PC for six months, Intel Premium Arc Alchemist graphics card, and one worth $700 that consists of three months of Xbox Game Pass PC, Intel Arc merchandise, and Intel Performance Arc Alchemist graphics card.

According to some preliminary calculations from Tom's Hardware, we assume that with the $900 bundle containing one Premium Arc Alchemist GPU and other prizes, the card will cost as much as $825 when all things get removed. Going down the ladder, Intel has paired a bundle worth $700 with a Performance Arc GPU, which is roughly worth $650 on its own. It indicates that the two Intel Performance and Premium Arch Alchemist graphics cards are respectfully worth $650 and $825. What will the final pricing look like? We don't know. Here it is: Microsoft and AMD have collaborated in a special, limited-edition Halo-themed graphics card. Putting the Halo in a halo product, the new release features a collaborative design between AMD and Microsoft, and deepens the link between both companies. The design takes its cues specifically from Halo's most recognizable character, The Master Chief - Spartan John-117. The custom card features a triple-fan cooling solution, customized with the military green and faceplate gold from the iconic Halo character. The backplate too screams the connections to Halo, with a 117 embossing and a LED-illuminated blue AI logo.

Microsoft also used the limited edition RX 6900 XT graphics card announcement to indicate that it is working closely with AMD to bring ray tracing to Halo infinite, saying that "Ray tracing is one our top development priorities post-launch and look forward to sharing more soon." Smartly, and perhaps learning from what happened with the retail release of the Halo infinite custom Xbox Series X console (which fell to scalpers in a matter of minutes), the new, limited edition graphics card won't be available for sale; instead, " AMD, Halo, and other partners will be offering players multiple opportunities over the coming weeks to get their hands on one." The upcoming graphics cards based on PCIe Gen5 standard will utilize the latest PCIe connector with double bandwidth of the previous Gen4 that we use today and bring a new power connector that the next generation of GPUs brings. According to the information exclusive to Igor's Lab, the new connector will be called the 12VHPWR and will carry as many as 16 pins with it. The reason it is called 12VHPWR is that it features 12 pins for power, while the remaining four are signal transmission connectors to coordinate the delivery. This power connector is supposed to carry as much as 600 Watts of power with its 16 pins.

The new 12VHPWR connector should work exclusively with PCIe Gen5 graphics cards and not be backward compatible with anything else. It is said to replace three standard 8-pin power connectors found on some high-end graphics cards and will likely result in power supply manufacturers adopting the new standard. The official PCI-SIG specification defines each pin capable of sustaining up to 9.2 Amps, translating to a total of 55.2 Amps at 12 Volts. Theoretically, this translates to 662 Watts; however, Igor's Lab notes that the connector is limited to 600 Watts. Additionally, the 12VHPWR connector power pins have a 3.00 mm pitch, while the contacts in a legacy 2×3 (6-pin) and 2×4 (8-pin) connector lie on a larger 4.20 mm pitch.

AMD is expected to announce their Radeon RX 6600 graphics card on October 13th according to leaked documents. The graphics card will feature a cut-down Navi 23 GPU with 28 Compute Units and 1,792 stream processors compared to 32 and 2,048 on the RX 6600 XT. The card has also been revealed to feature 8 GB of GDDR6 memory running at 14 Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus. The first images of cards from board partners including XFX, ASRock, and PowerColor have been published by VideoCardz covering 5 different RX 6600 models.

The XFX Speedster SWFT 210 features a unique shorter PCB design with a relocated 8-pin power connector in addition to a redesigned backplate which differs from the RX 6600 XT model. PowerColor appears to be releasing Hellhound and Fighter models with identical designs as their RX 6600 XT counterparts featuring 2-slot cooling and single 8-pin power connectors. ASRock is preparing two Challenger series models both sharing the same PCB with the single-fan Challenger ITX and dual-fan Challenger D. These new cards will reportedly match the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 according to a leaked internal benchmark.

Chinese news site MyDrivers have recently reported on increasing graphics card prices in China over the last month. These price increases come as a result of reduced GPU shipments especially of the NVIDIA RTX 3060 whose supply is down 50% with improvements not expected for several weeks. The site has tracked the prices for popular cards from ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI with increases across the board ranging from a 12 USD increase on the Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti up to a 92 USD increase on the ASUS RTX 3070 Ti. These supply impacts have impacted NVIDIA to a greater extent than AMD but the general price increases are likely indicative of the global trend over the coming weeks.

According to a new research report from the analyst firm Jon Peddie Research, unit shipments of add-in boards increased in Q2'21 from last year, while Nvidia increased market share to 80% from last quarter a 0.3% increase as well as 2% year-over-year.. Over $11.8 billion AIBs shipped in the quarter—an increase of 179% year-over-year.

Add-in boards (AIBs) use discrete GPUs (dGPU) with dedicated memory. Desktop PCs, workstations, servers, rendering and mining farms, and scientific instruments use AIBs. Consumers and enterprises buy AIBs from resellers or OEMs. They can be part of a new system or installed as an upgrade to an existing system. Systems with AIBs represent the higher end of the graphics industry. Entry-level systems use integrated GPUs (iGPU) in CPUs that share slower system memory.

The card appears to debut a new PCB not found on the air-cooled Speedster Merc 319 series cards. This board comes with three 8-pin PCIe power inputs, and likely a more robust power delivery setup. In all likelihood, the card features the "XTXH" variant of the Navi 21 silicon, designed to sustain 10% higher engine clocks than regular RX 6900 XT cards.
