The Memblaze PBlaze7 7940 is a solid-state drive in the U.2 form factor, launched in August 2023. It is available in capacities ranging from 3.8 TB to 15 TB. This page reports specifications for the 7.5 TB variant. With the rest of the system, the Memblaze PBlaze7 7940 interfaces using a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 connection. The SSD controller is the MV-SS1333 from Marvell, a DRAM cache chip is available. Memblaze has installed 232-layer TLC NAND flash on the PBlaze7 7940, the flash chips are made by Micron. Thanks to support for the fast PCI-Express 5.0 interface, performance is excellent. The PBlaze7 7940 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and 10,000 MB/s write; random IOPS reach up to 2800K for reads and 400K for writes.
The SSD's price at launch is unknown. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Memblaze guarantees an endurance rating of 14016 TBW, a high value.

Notes

Controller:

The Bravera SC5 SSD controllers feature 72-bit DDR interface
with the option of using either DDR4 or LPDDR4X and has 10
embedded processor cores: Arm® Cortex®-R8 cores plus
additional Cortex-M7 cores for providing further flexibility. In
addition, a Cortex-M3 processor core with integrated
instruction/data SRAM and crypto engines (AES, SHA, RSA, ECC)
in a secure boundary handles the security (TCG) standards for
all secure drive control and key management.

NAND Die:
