The SK Hynix Canvas SC300 was a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on January 1st, 2015, that is no longer in production. It was available in capacities ranging from 128 GB to 512 GB. This page reports specifications for the 128 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the SK Hynix Canvas SC300 interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SH87810AA Pearl from SK Hynix, a DRAM cache chip is available. SK Hynix has installed MLC NAND flash on the Canvas SC300, the flash chips are made by SK Hynix. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly, once it is full, writes complete at 130 MB/s. The Canvas SC300 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 530 MB/s and 200 MB/s write; random IO reaches 85K IOPS for read and 50K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 45 USD. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. SK Hynix guarantees an endurance rating of 72 TBW, a typical value for consumer SSDs.
