The Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on May 10th, 2022. It is available in capacities ranging from 240 GB to 2 TB. This page reports specifications for the 512 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2259XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Teamgroup has installed 128-layer TLC NAND flash on the T-Force Vulcan Z, the flash chips are made by SK Hynix. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are absorbed more quickly. The T-Force Vulcan Z is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 540 MB/s and 470 MB/s write.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 30 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Teamgroup guarantees an endurance rating of 400 TBW, a good value.
