is this a steam online game? or just authenticating through steam to play a game offline?
EDIT: a new DRM requires that you purchase tickets from steam to play per game. Alternatively you can purchase an armband to play all day!

Exit steam, open steam folder, delete clientregistry.blob, re-load steam.

It will do an update, ask you for your username and password.
