Gaming build advice needed - I'm out of touch :)

Hi guys, may I start by saying happy new year to one and all. Its been a little while since I posted on this forum but I'm hoping you can give me the advice I need to make a nice gaming machine.

I want a machine that will play all current games with ease with a little room for future use and upgradegradeability (is that a word

) I'm probably looking at building this within the next two months and I already have a case(antec 900)

So i want -

to play at 1680x1050 resolution minimum
Info on the latest products/graphics cards/processors/mboards
Good power for now with a little room for future use
Its an english budget of £1000 max.

go for an intel i7 config with a 4870, a gigabyte mobo, 3 gb of ram, 700w psu

Video Cards: GTX 260 216 55nm. When u have the money, u can step-up to 285 without wasting a lot of cash.
RAM: G.Skill Pi 2 x 2 GB DDR2 800 (or spend a little more on DDR2 900 rated)
Case: Cooler MAster HAF 932
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB 7200.11
CD/DVD Drive: Any rated 4.5-5 models are fine
PSU: PC Power & Cooling 750W
Sound Card: Onboard is completely fine

Windows 7 is out but only the beta. But has a lot of bugs and doesn’t support punkbuster which a lot of games require to run so don’t buy it yet. Stick w/ Vista until next year when it truly comes out

with that budget you can easily go i7 (intels latest quad core) with a decent card gtx 260/hd 4870
