How to notice Image tearing after 60FPS on 60HZ monitor?

Hi guys, I understand that my T220 monitor is limited to 60HZ on native resolution, which means that after 60 FPS in a action game, there is a screen tearing.
The problem- i never notice that even when FPS goes to 120(like in Painkiller Overdose, FEAR...) how you guys notice that tearing? what is it?

Not everyone sees it to the same extent, it all depends how good your eyesight is, and how fast your brain can process what your eyes are throwing at you.

Everything you need to know about vsync and a diagram of it - the image appears to tear horizontally, usually in the middle.

Thanks, this is the first time I've found out what triple buffering has the capability of doing. I'm enabling it right now with the nVidia panel on COD4MP to see if it can get rid of some or most tearing.

triple buffering only applies if Vsync is enabled, and if Vsync is enabled you wont have tearing.

You don`t have image tearing if you had you will know it. It is not needed to strain your eyes to notice it.

Triple buffering gets rid of a lot of tearing. Not all of it, but a lot.

doesn't appear to be the effect i'm getting...

they have a page on it in the linked article. Even in that they mention it only applies to Vsync on.
