Hi every one, I have already lapped all my water blocks, when I going to lap my CPU I realized I have no longer have that plastic holder came from the CPU:banghead:, so what do I use to hold the CPU while lapping it? Any info will be appreciated. Thank you.

your fingers. There are no pins to bend and simply cleaning it well with alcohol is enough to clean the LGA pads surface when you are done.

Most videos or pictures I've seen where the person is lapping, the user only uses their fingers as sneekypeet here suggests.

I would use that little black pad that comes in the processor blister pod thing, just to stop any water getting on it accidently.

meh its really overkill. BTW you can drop the CPU in the toilet for all I care, just dry it well it will reboot. The water isnt going to hurt a thing trust me I have lapped a few procs myself.

All done with sandpaper taped to a chunk or granite I got. add water and start lapping. Watch a few vids on youtube.

Although you don't need to worry about much, even a little water on the grid surface of the CPU isn't bad (IIRC, the grid surfaces is sealed pretty well) - just make sure to dry it off, then clean it a bit with some rubbing alcohol (to remove any potential metal grit that might have transferred) . . . if you're still not 100% of the condition after cleaning it, let it sit for a day or two to dry . . .

TBH, if you're more worried about getting finger prints or such on the grid surface - wear a pair of latex gloves (or nitrile if you're allergic to latex). They can typically be had from a local drug store, and can usually be bought in a package of 1 pair (two gloves). They'll also offer a little better "grip" on the CPU.

Your looks very nice man.

I know, that is the best thing to use for Intel CPU, but I just don't have it, and I wonder how people lap their AMD? it has pins and comes without that black cover. I don't know the others, personally I don't use a drop of water, I realized w/o liquid is more easier to lap, clean and got better results.

Hey, I am very appreciate for your attentiveness to my lapping proccess, I wonder what is your job is. I have stole some blue gloves from my school medic room, doesn't feel good when I wear it, will save it for the case paintings.

G got hired as to hold my goodies.

I used a pc of foam from the shipment and some painter tape just for my comfort while lapping, and it does. I am not a good photographer and any comments are welcome. Will do some extreme OC after I have done with my case and sleeving. Thanks guys.
