I may be coming into some money soon ($75 to be exact) and I want to treat myself to something nice but, as the cheapskate of TPU, I don't want to spend it all and am toying with this idea, but I don't know if there will be a realistic difference that amounts to more than piss in the wind...
My uncle has a PNY 9800GT Energy Efficient edition he bought through work to fix some computer, but the video card didn't turn out to be the problem so now it's sitting around doing nothing. I was wondering if maybe I could talk him into trading my 9600gso + like $20 for the 9800GT, but my 9600GSO clocks pretty high IMO (see specs). The 9800GT energy efficient edition has no power connector, so I wonder if overclocking would be hindered... but the 9800GT has 16 more shaders, and 128MB more memory... so essentially I would be giving up overclocking prowess for 16 shaders and 128MB memory. Oh yeah, and a wider bus width... 256-bit over 192.
