WoW Cataclysm Updated G.Engine

I hope blizzards new MMO isn’t fantasy like WoW otherwise I will write it off like I did with WoW. I had high hopes for a Starcraft MMO. Anyone remember when Starcraft: Ghost was supposed to be coming out for consoles then Blizzard scrapped it? While I don’t mind a revamped Starcraft RTS, I was hoping for modernization beyond just strategy gaming! GIVE ME A GOOD SCI-FI OR NON MAGIC, SWORD, SHIELD MMO PLEASE!!! Then and only then would Blizzard get my money again.

I have an e8500 and 4870, both vanilla clocks, 8x/16x at 1920x1200, and I never go below 40, in fact, the only time ive ever gone below 50 was at the brew fesival where there were hundreds of people running around on my screen, where it went into the low-mid 30s.
Although I do agree with you, there are several games that look much better, and also run better. Wow isn't too bad though, I've definately seen worse.

Does anyone know if there is going to be an action MMO? rather than an auto-attack sleepfest? sort of like Zelda meets WoW? (rather than just clicking on the enemy, stare at the screen until it becomes fuzzy, and you daze out, until you see no more movement on the screen). It would be glorious.

Dalaran literally dropped me under 10fps at peak hours and at night still was under 20fps. And some raid bosses could drop me into the 20's also. So me and your friends have FPS issues in common, but the difference is, that I spent a ton on my comp and they havent upgraded in years.

They optimize that game for low end systems, problem is those can't handle many things on screen so running around the world is fine, but no matter what a raid will lag. And since they dont care at all for upper end systems they really just end up playing out only a bit better than a pos comp. They wouldnt have that issue if they actually released 2 clients, one that was optimized for higher comps, and one for people with worse comps.

The argument will come up with "people are paying still why fix it?" Well the answer to that is they dont have to, but that doesnt mean they shouldn't. All that happened in WotLK for upper end and lower end computers was worse performance because more effects and horrible optimization. BC played fine, but a 4870x2 should not ever lag in a raid or a capital, if they take that same route of adding in more features with horrible optimization I can't imagine the outcome.

Makes me mad, I swear in Vanilla that all of them in Duskwood were called Worgren, with an r at the end as well as the beginning. And if you do a search even on google and bunch of other people say Worgren also, I'm thinking it must have got changed at some point.

My last name is Worgren and I would almost be tempted to play again just to use my first name and have people ask me why the normal name, could come up with so many good responses, kind of makes me sad

I just read some updates on the gameplay and changes... the current version of wow feels too obsolete to play now .

The Worgen transformations from human look sweet.. plus being able to change back to human obviously since its the only way they can converse.

I do feel sorry for the people with addictive personalities. I don't think I've ever gone as far as those people in those threads. Since reaching level cap I only really play when I have to raid with my guild which lasts only 3 hours a day and 4 times a week then there are dailies that take less than an hour to finish.

Anyways you cannot say the game is easy unless you've farmed the crap out of Algalon in 10/25 man content and TOTC 10/25 heroic. Too many people saying the game is easy simply because they've reached level cap and managed to equip their char with low item level epics, not cool.

I have the same issues and so does everyone else i know within WoW. Dalaran is extremely laggy and it constanly crashes my game. And its only the area around and within Dalaran. I run the game with the lowest AA and my native screen res and still lag like mad.

You just must play on a very low populated server?

Yeah like Crash said, it's pretty much everyone, just check the tech section, there is numerous posts a day on the subject once people upgrade and notice no difference. There didn't seem to be much of a difference between my 4870x2 and a friends 3870.

It runs fine for me right now maxed out with 8x AA and all that. I get like 40-50 fps in Dal and some other WOTLK areas, and 60fps in raids and everywhere else. I can't wait to see what the updated engine looks like!

That being said, there are plenty of games that look 10 times better than wow, and run 10 times better on comparable hardware (aka guildwars???) I think blizz should work on optimizing thier stuff before updating the actual look. Ive known machines to get better framerate in crysis than in Wow.

That's not the reason why wow goes so bad sometimes. Most of the fps problems in game comes from crappy dsl lines (like most of here in Spain) and crappy servers (like all af the servers here in Spain and our inferno of "instances are full, try later"), I have friends who have decent hardware but they use crappy adsl with crappy modems, crappy routers or crappy wifi and so. I use cable line and have no complain about performance even in my 5 year old laptop but in dalaran, for obvious reasons. So it's not like the engine is bad coded or something, there are other reasons why the game goes so bad and comes from isps and servers.

Before engine update, they should fix the servers. Then update the engine, I would like to see an updated wow engine.

I have a 100mbit/s line (router caps at 60 though), and the framerate still drops as soon as there's a lot going on. Runs on 1680*1050, high, but also when I lower the settings. It just shouldn't do that, not when I played 1280*1024 @ medium at a Pentium 3.

Not that it bothers me much, I don't really play with others at all, but it's still annoying. It doesn't scale very well.

i never once said that its easy because of leveling, if u actually played wow in the TBC stage its was ALOT harder with bosses and i personally had a top character at 80 with profs/ full valorous and was working my through my seigebreaker gear. We cleared ulduar after 3 weeks and its wasnt really a challenge rather then an annoyance for drops.

I simply got bored, of the same challenges and same crappy bosses and adding in a few vehicles in a raid doesnt make it harder or add content. The latest expansion has been easy in my mind and not a challenge, you may not think so but we all have a different skill level.

I eventually moved over to playing just arena and BG's and i found that i enjoyed arena and found this to be a 'CHALLENGE'. I think if you actually ask some of the more hardened wow players here they will tell you that the new content is not as much of a challenge as the old TBC content.

anyways rant over, im just not being classed as some 'noob' with crap gear hat just gave up on the game.

I really got to stop you there, WoW has been easy since after Vanilla. It took people months to clear MC, BWL, AQ40, and Original Naxx. I just found the old places much more fun, they said raiding with 40 and low loot counts and rinse repeat each week was what people didn't like, but 40 man raids were the funnest raid times I ever had.

And adding in resilence ruined the game. Arenas, and BG's are fine, and the old stam stacked GM/Howler gear worked great. But resilience is just crap as some classes don't need it like others. Playing a warrior until you stacked res feels like a joke, where as a rogue or other high cc classes/specs can do good without it so they skyrocket in ratings right off the bat as they scale pvp for resilience even when the xpac had just released and people would only have 70 gear to use.

Yeah they are adding a Mastery System to compensate, they won't be rolling back anything but they will be revamping talent trees, stats and areas.

All I was saying was if you could tell me you've killed algalon and have cleared 10/25 man a few times in hard modes then tell me it is easy because I know by fact 10/25 man Uld normal is easy as pie and only requires raiders that listen to half of what the raid leader says. I'm guessing this is because its aimed more at casual gameplay. As I've mentioned I only play 3:30 hours and 4 times a week and it only takes 2 hours to clear TOTC 25 man and 1 hour and 30 minutes to clear up to freya with hodir and thorim down.

Im not going to make another post about how wrong you are, BUT saying that i only completed 10 man......that made me laugh so fucking hard. Our guild never even went for 10 man gear, the only time we did was to do the hard modes to get some of the bis items.

IM SICK of everytime I express my reasons about how I ended up giving up on wow, there is allways some fanboy that says im wrong and my opinion is not valid because of this or that.
As for that fact that your bullshitting my view on how quickly we cleared the content, you can go check out my old guild if you wish, Serrendipity on mazrigos (EU) and check out the hard modes and dates we completed.

now the skill level of your guild may not be as high as it was in the guild i was in. They are still kicking and are a hardcore guild ranked 4th on our server and a top 50 guild in the EU. PLEASE dont bullshit other peoples views or opinions or make assumptions about my skill level or character level.

this is my opinion, but what your saying is what ive heard from many many other fans boys, that love the game and feel they have to protect it. Sorry that i had to go to the angry man, but it anoys the hell out of me when people start down the line of ....your wrong ....your a noob and you didnt clear that content.

Its simply annoying, if you enjoy the game thats great, i have no problems with others playing it and im not trying to stop others playing it. BUT PLEASE don't say that i haven't done this or done that, go find my old guild and im sure you will have your answer there, instead of making asumptions, as you said you are a casual player and i was a hardcore player that played about 7 hours a day. Sad maybe!? yes it was! but it does explain why the guild i was in cleared content fast and why it is a top guild.
