Cnet UK commisioned a self selecting random survey last month to see how many Xbox 360's, PS3's, and Wii's have failed

the survery shows that 60% had failed in this survey, vs 16% of the PS3's and 6% of Wii's.
Only 25 per cent of disappointed 360 owners had owned the console for more than 18 months before it broke, with 47 per cent reporting a failure inside a year. Seventy two per cent returned their Xbox to Microsoft, who extended the 360's warranty to three years after the console's problems became widely known. Fifteen per cent sought their own solution, such as repairing it themselves or giving up and throwing it under a bed. One miserable gamer reported, "I can't afford to get (the Xbox 360) fixed as it is out of warranty, so it sits in the spare room all lonely."

Many 360 owners report the console breaking more than once. Of those whose console has broken at least once, 32 per cent say it has broken twice, and 19 per cent say it has broken three times or more. One person said their 360 "was repaired six times before (being) refunded by Microsoft".

Of those who have bought a 360 in the last two years, only for it to break, 29 per cent say it has broken more than once.

I tried to find more info on the PS3's and wii's in this survey but it seems the info is still not out completely

also this is only a survey, and a small one at that, but it was random.

I think that the 360 rate is a bit high but I expect it to be about 40% personally, not 60% the PS3's seems about right, but I have never ever seen a wii fail personally yet.

I have no reason to dispute these findings. The Xbox360 has serious hardware flaws which lead to constant infant mortality failures. The PS3 most likely has about double the failures compared to the Wii because it is a more complex machine.

Wow thats some interesting figurs.

You missed the last poll done, was a different company, but I think the 360 in that one had almost 75% failure rate, the PS3 I think was at 15% and the Wii around what it's at now. So seeing this one doesnt really surprise me.

yep, add another 1 million xbox360 "failed"/banned last week, the 60% seems to be incredibly lower than average ;)
