I have (2) WD caviar black 650 GB hard drives run in a R.A.I.D. and I also have a western digital caviar blue p.o.s. 150 GB or something. If I used the WD blue with a seperate operating system to download songs/videos, is it possible for any viruses it gets to move to the R.A.I.D.. The alternative is building another computer strictly for downloads. plz help.:respect::confused:

Yes. Some viruses even send themselves to all writable network drives.

The key is execution. A virus is useless unless it gets ran. Unless the virus was specifically engineered to attack a dual boot OS or the hard drive itself, the damage would be minimal (they typically only attack the active operating system).

well both operating systems would be ran within a few hours of eachother. Would that make a difference?

yes, if u accidentally click a virus files it can spread over all hhd's. for e.g. ur pen drive contains a virus worm etc and u double click to open files and pen drive has a auto-run exe virus then it will spread through out the hdd
