I sent my cousin my old 8800GT, and he told me that one out of 6 of this fell off. The card's still working fine, and he's playing games just fine atm. I'm wondering is there anything to worry about?

Example pic:

its a capacitor, i would have expected the card to die dunno if you can get a new capacitor and solder it on not sure of electronics

if its running fine use it but it could die so be weary of that

Don't go 'repairing' that card - you'll likely kill it.

Capacitors are often there to help out with signal integrity and power smoothing. As you can see, losing one or two often makes no difference at all. It might affect some extreme overclock or something like that, but then who'd bother on that grade of card?

As it still works ok, your cousin should leave it as it is.

I have a friend who once said me that capacitors in a motherboard usually are used to balance the current, so telling the truth, if there is a problem with current, or electricity the card is going to die or maybe not. Even all of the capacitors fell off, the card still is going to work, but its lifespan is merely down. It is just like cutting the life of a human from 80 years for example to 70, but he has a lot to live anyway. The card will not last that long as the engineers probably made it. Nothing to worry about, even your computer is totally safe.

which one "fell off"?? there is no spot in that pic where a cap fell off at all, there is a spot with no cap in it but if you look closely the solder is balled meaning there was never a cap there to begin with, at least not when it left the factory with that revision gpu. tons of cards are like that hell my 4850 has like 8 spots with no caps, if you put a cap there it will likely mess up the card. Often times they use the same pcb for different revisions, the higher/lower clocked version probably has a cap in that spot due to there being more/less voltage

that pic is a example pic not the real card

I love the wording: "fell off". I doubt that it fell off. More like pried off. Or banged off. ;)

If it was a smoothing capacitor, which it will be if it's that size since logic and timing caps are usually in the pF range for these speeds, it hopefully won't affect his system - maybe a random crash because of the tight voltage logic tolerances of some dense integrated circuits.

The OP has circled the capacitor that fell off in red, but it's hard to see. It's a thin, irregular line around the yellow capacitor.

if its working properly noo need to worry why fix whats not broken my friend and i had my
pine fx5200 passive about 6 resistors and 1 cap fell off it (due to extreme ocing)and it used to work fine except games (in which i used to get weird lines) till now until it finally now went RIP so if it worked for a long 4 years after losing its components so no need to worry about that if ur cousin dosent play games and oc's his video card then only will he have a prob and the card will likely die faster than usual.

I agree with the above. No matter what its purpose or rating was the other caps will need to pick up the slack likely putting them out of tolerence. If the degridation is noicable or not is a diffirent story. But if its running fine just make sure to check the other caps and make sure they dont start to vent.
