480 woes

Definitely sounds like a bad PSU to me too. The fact it won't turn on again is a dead giveaway,

Try to beg/borrow/steal another one to test. I'm sure it will work fine.

Those spots on the card dont look like burnmarks to me. The area around them is fine. Looks more like rust or some other harmless stuff.

Sheesh dude, those really are bad pics. But if I squint hard enough, I'd say that you have dry joints / overheated and stressed joints.

This only reinforces my feeling that the PSU is bad. You said it's ex review, right? Well, they tend to stress these things to the limit on reviews to find out the point at which it falls over, so it's not too hard to see why it might be faulty.

RMA it without delay. If it dies catastrophically, it might take out the rest of the PC with it (although that's much more likely with a cheap brand, than a quality one like XFX).

BTW I know a thing or two about electronics and those definitely look like stress marks on it.

the system is was tested on is quoted above in a past post, it didnt even get full load on that system.

Shit, I've just realised that you've photographed the graphics card.

Well, my circuit stressout comments apply to that, then. If possible, try it in another PC and see if it does the same thing. Note that it may not at first and still be faulty, it's just the nature of the beast.

Try to get a double verify by sticking another high powered graphics card in your rig and see if it plays well.

Feel free to link to the video if you wish, but you don't need to do so to prove anything.

I agree, it doesn't look damaged to me either. I still stand by the PSU being the culprit, Seasonic or not, any manufacture can produce defective products.

Even if a PSU was tested on a system.. It doesn't Mean That EVERY psu that they make will be the golden one.. There will all ways be a psu or two that comes from the factory and can't handle what the sticker says.. your going from a video card that is requiring 24amps to one that requires 42. Yeah, the PSU is rated for 62amps, but things happen..
Like everyone else, I gotta say that the psu is doing something funky.. No matter what a review says... Not every product is a EXACT build of that one tested..

Those look very much like dry joints to me, caused by a lot of heat. If the OP could post better pictures, then that would really help to confirm it.

In the end, a double verify like I described needs to be done to pinpoint which component is at fault. Given the picture, I'd say 99% the card, but the test still needs to be done for elimination.

Heck, if you're really unlucky, both will be bad...

If you have your old PSU, you could always use your old PSU to power everything put the GPU, and use the XFX only for the GPU. if the 480 still doesn't work, its the GPU. If it does, than its the PSU

you've said that.. If your standing behind the psu, stating that it's not that, while others are. Please just show the review. Squash everyone in saying it's not.
