It isn't wired, but I doubt it'll be over wi-fi (or anything standards compliant for that matter).

the WiiPad uses bluetooth to communicate but how the video is transmitted is a mystery. the WiiPad 6.2" screen resolution is 854x480. Nintendo will be ditching friend codes for single online identity and friends list.

it's rumored to have a custom AMD "WOLF" clocked at 766mhz, so far nobody has really tried to debunk it mainly because it's underwhelming.

underwhelming? what did you expect? they had the HD 2000 series launching around the same time they(ATi) had Xenos, which has 48 unified shaders and probably was built on their first decent architecture on the road to HD 2000.

Now they're going to use a chip that may have up to 800 shaders, under a much better architecture. going from 48 meh shaders to 800 of their finest shader designs is pretty big imo. That is if they implement all 800 of the RV770

well a lot of people think it's underwhelming. Nintendo uses a flat shaded art style. I don't think Mario needs the latest and greatest but with all these third party developers signing on maybe it's not enough

Which I doubt TBH. Probably they will lock a certain number of shaders to decrease power draw. When going top gear the HD 4850 can get relatively thirsty according to modern standards (just compare it to later cards of similar performance) and I doubt that Nintendo wants to add a top-quality 500w PSU. I may be completely wrong though.

it would be fine with a full powered 4850 considering the 45nm IBM cpus power draw, a 4850 + E8400 overclocked back in the day aka Techpowerup review was only 208w total system power draw

an 800 shader r700 series gpu on 40nm would be much lower in power consumpion then a 4850 and even then the total system power consumption would still be withing console design limits

First Gen 60gb PS3 used 200-220w when playing a game

4850 + overclocked dual core hit 210w,

take into account the IBM cpus running 45nm and the gpu would be most likely 40nm r700 would mean total power consumption and heat output would still be within the typical range of a first generation of a new console. I just dont see how its all gonna fit in there tiny white box lol

it will likely be downclocked shaders and memory to reduce power and heat. I'd expect 500/1000 or thereabouts. Should be plenty of power for what they're asking it to do though so no worries. and at least we're guaranteed to start seeing dx10 console ports. By the time the next xbox and plasystation come out tho I'll expect nothing less than dx12.

correct but im guessing if its downclocked on a 256bit bus with 1024mb of GDDR5 even if downclocked the optimization on consoles will allow the GPU to have some extreme muscle.

That's what i was trying to stress with my comparison of the 48 vs possibly 800. shit even at like 480, that's 10x the shaders and probly more in performance since the architecture is much superior.

to be fair i've only heard the name rv 700 floating around and while that covers the 4870's etc it also covers things like the 4350

my guess is its more likely to be a 4770 on 40nm then a 4850 etc but a 4770 was shown to have performance very close to said 4850 and the much lower power requirments would make it ideal its also an extremely cheap chip to mass produce at this point.

4850 in a console would be a monster IMO. With that being said 5850 would take YEARS to beat.

5850 is a much larger die then a 4770, requires far more power etc, and Nintendos console is extremely small, granted would be awesome if they had a 5850 in it lol, id buy it just for shits and giggles at that point to play Mario at 120fps at 1920x1080

Honestly a 4770 is all it needs. Most deveolers will still be making games for the wanna be PC's (PS3,360) so a 4770 will be overkill. Maybe the WiiU will have AA unlike most console games.

lol no. Jaggys everwhere for most games. Remember the 360 alone is only running a X1900. Try running AA in BC2 with that.

no the xbox has a dedicated section of the gpu for AA (2xAA for 1080p and 4xAA for 720p) since most games are upscaled from 720p this is why some of them look better like that

a lot of games don't use it for compatibility reasons, Worse game i can think of it NFS HP, playing on a 32" from 2' away made it look less then fantastic

that said with the lifespan of these consoles even if the wii will run AA they will quickly drop it for other features

Thanks to the daughter die, the Xenos can do 4× FSAA, z-buffering, and alpha blending with no appreciable performance penalty on the GPU
