which one I should buy? between Ivy Bridge and Trinity

Hi,

I want to buy a new desktop. Mostly I will use it for surf internet and play game. I notice that Trinity will be out somewhere during August.

My question is if I have budget about 500usd for cpu + vga. Which one has better performance between Core i5 3770 (250usd and 250usd for vga) and Trinity CPU + vga set.

I wouldnt wait on trinity and im an AMD fan, they might yet have issues releasing desktop parts and ivy is out and tied to a seperate gfx card will perform better, if cost matters though i recently built a whole pc for 450uk pounds using this kit

and it performed very well in all scenarios , games run v well on it on typicaly medium settings .

slight note i swapped the 6670 for an asus one with dirt3 free(because of dirt 3) and the voucher for a direct from amd code had expired, the shits

I think best for you would be a 7 series GPU and a 65W Trinity APU.

Depends.

If you are talking about pure processing power Ivy Bridge is better and complements a discrete / dedicated video card better.

However, judging from Llano's performance and leaked Trinity benchmarks, Trinity looks vastly superior as an APU ideal for people whom are not interested in a dedicated video card.

Trinity is out next month I would wait for proper reviews.

Hello Thank you very much everyone.

My intention is I'm going to play offline games with the highest graphic but resolution might be only 1280 x 800 or 1920 x 1080 and fsaa off.

So, I'm thinking about

1. Core i5 3570k ($250) + Radeon HD 7850, total500 - 510usd
2. Trinity (roughly $120) + Radeon HD 7870 or HD 7950, total 500 - 520usd.

I heard somewhere Core i7 are not worth for invest because the increasing in fps is minimal. So, I'm switch from Core i7 to Core i5 and move those budget to buy better vga instead.

now I use the same logic, if I can switch from Core i5 (Ivy Bridge) to Trinity then I have more budget remain to add up the better vga. However, I'm not sure Trinity will be a bottleneck or not.

Maybe i'm wrong but IMO pairing a 7950 with a Trinity is a waste of GPU power. Maybe Trinity is way faster than today peers, but isn't supposed to be an entry chip?

Maybe an i5 2500 or a i5 3450, they both cost 200usd.

For CPU Ivy Bridge takes it

For IGP Trinity takes it

Judging by what you wrote you will get a discrete card then i don't see a reason for Trinity, go Ivy Bridge

Trinity for low cost gaming laptops, maybe budget gaming rigs. It does have applications in dual graphics but for the price, probably be better to put it towards an i5 setup. I've built one Llano rig for a relative. Honestly they are quite capable for most everyday use. But outside of a laptop setup, I don't think I'd get one myself. Unless for a small build for use away from home. But then I'd look to laptop first.

Intel for discrete high end laptops or gaming towers if you can afford it.
