Hi all,
i bought max payne 3 today from the games store, came back home, excited to play it,i read the manual, inserted the disc 1,but to my dissapointment,it is not read by my dvd rom :(
whenever i click the dvd rom icon inside my computer,it says please insert the disc, and the dvd rom tray comes out with the disc.
what is the problem,it is happening to me first time.
I recently wrote a dvd from it,it worked fine.
and it reads my music dvd too.

Hi,

perhaps it's the copy-protection that's preventing you from reading the disc correctly. I see you are using a Samsung DVD rewriter. What model is it? Perhaps you can update the firmware and see if you can read the disc after the flash (if there's a firmware update of course).

And if it's an IDE (instead of s-ata) optical drive, you can always try to disable dma mode via control panel > system > device manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers (check which channel your DVD drive is connected to) and under the "advance settings" tab uncheck "Enable DMA" in device property, restart and see if it now reads the DVD after the reboot. It's an old trick that happened to work for me in the past when I can't read a CD or DVD.

Otherwise, you have to go back to the game-store and exchange for a working one if it's a misprint.

Probably drive is failing they don't last forever.
Have you tried Disk in another Drive/pc?
Best to try this before attempting to exchange disk as not all DVD/CD Drives Read All Disks they are sometimes fussy as to certain brands of Disks in certain Drives
Do other Retail Disks fail to read or is it only this specific Disk
I have had this Same problem before and similar ie place brand new or old Retail Data Disk in the drive (Software installation disk)
windows either does not register disk in drive (as yours is) or Reads disk as totally Blank
i tried all sorts of things to sort it out as it was working in another pc cleaning drive / disk updateing firmware reinstalling drive none of it worked so i just replaced the drive in the end to solve problem

Can you perhaps update the firmware of the DVD rewriter? You can download the firmware updates for the DVD rewriter here: http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/firmware/fwdownload/fwdownload.asp A firmware update may improve compatibility of the drive.

The only thing you now have to do, is finding out what model it is.

If the firmware update doesn't help, then I guess you need to get a new DVD rewriter with an other brand, or get your refunds by returning the game.

Good luck!
