Step up to GTX 680?

Hey guys I currently own a GTX 580 1.5 GB and I'm #59 in the que to step up to the GTX 680 2 GB. The total cost to step up is gonna be $69. Should I definitely go this route? I'm seeing a lot of good reviews for the 680, I'm also seeing people with GTX 580 3 GB having a hard time making this decision obviously because of the VRAM. I'm in a different boat as I have the smaller gtx 580. So do you guys have any opinions on if I should do it?

I'm not really interested in SLI 580s as I'm not a fan of added heat and troubles of SLI. I may not notice a huge difference in performance now over a 580, but I'm definitely interested in the long run and thinking that a 680 will last me longer then the 580. What do you guys think? Would appreciate any input Thanks guys.

I had a GTX580 Classified 3GB ULTRA and I stepped up and am extremely happy. 680s are just awesome. I have had 0 Vram issues the 3GB the classifieds have could only come into play if running multi monitor with multi gpu.

Id wait atleast till Either a Refresh of NV product Lineup, or get another 580 or wait for the GF 7** series

I run 2 monitors, both 1920x1080. I only game on 1 though and use the 2nd for internet browser/random applications. So many nice features about the 680 like less power, less heat, better performance, more vram, better future proofing....$70 price tag to step up. Definitely worth it in your opinion?

BF3 is my main game I'm playing now, If I try to play on Ultra on my gtx 580, I get fps around 45 which is a little sluggish for my liking and have a hard time trying to fly at that FPS. I've heard a gtx 680 will get 65+ on ultra...Sounds really nice...

Well the thing is I can get a 680 for the price difference of what I bought the 580 for, which is $60 + $10 shipping. If I wait until a 7** series card, I'd have to pay full retail and then try to find a seller etc etc..

65+ easy also it will handle that other monitor easier and be able to drop clocks to idle when not gaming which the fermi cannot do when running more than 1 display. So cooler, more power efficient, more features ( adaptive V-sync is badass especially for BF3 ). win win

nope, 3.3 stock, 3.7 turbo boost in games.

Overclocked or not a i5 2500k can handle a GTX 680.

think of it this way too. a 680 is worth a good chunk of change 450-500 easy.
a 580 is well under 400 right now and dropping quick.

turbo boost is overclocking it so ya it should be fine, n actually you'd probably be in the same conundrum if you upgrade to the 680 next year.

Top Tier Cards last 3-5 years before needing a speed boost or just plain upgrade.

I would definitely do it when it comes to gpu's a whole series jump from one flagship to next for $70 is a no brainer especially with what 580's are going for, the old NV series is fading fast.

I would definitely go with the 680. Not only is it faster and more power efficient as mentioned before, but the extra 1/2 gig of GDDR will definitely help you out in games like skyrim and such now and even more games down the road.
